That night, Jun and Minghao met outside their dens. This was an often occurrence. The 2 saw this as a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of pack life.
Jun lay in the soft grass, his eyes closed as he soaked in the quietness. Minghao sat nearby, his back against a sturdy oak tree, watching over the older.
"Do you think we'll ever have a time of true peace?" Jun asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Minghao considered the question, his eyes thoughtful. "I think peace is something we have to create, moment by moment. It's not a destination but a journey." He responded.
Jun opened his eyes, turning to look at Minghao. "That sounds like something a wise elder would say." He said with a light laugh.
Minghao couldn't help but laugh along with Jun. "Maybe I had been spending too much time with the elders." Minghao said.
Before their old leader left them, Minghao would spend time with the elders, always wanting to learn under their wisdom.
Jun smiled. "Well, I'm glad you did." Jun admitted. "Your wisdom always helps me see things more clearly."
Minghao's expression softened. "And your presence always reminds me of the beauty in the world, even in the midst of chaos." He said, leaning over to run his hand through Jun's hair.
Jun smiled as he pulled Minghao down to lay with him.
