Over the next few days, Seungcheol began to notice something odd going on.
Something between Vernon and Seungkwan. Seungcheol would see the subtle cues indicating a deeper connection between them.
One evening, as the pack gathered around a crackling campfire, the atmosphere buzzing with laughter, Seungcheol noticed Vernon and Seungkwan stealing glances at each other across the fire.
After the others had dispersed, Seungcheol approached Vernon and Seungkwan "Can we talk?" he asked quietly.
Vernon and Seungkwan exchanged a nervous glance before nodding, following Seungcheol to a secluded corner of the clearing.
"What's going on between you two?" Seungcheol asked gently.
Taking a deep breath, Seungkwan stepped forward, his hand finding Vernon's for support.
"We're together," he admitted, his voice steady despite the nervous flutter in his chest. "Vernon and I. We've been in a relationship for some time now."
Seungcheol's eyes widened in surprise, the revelation catching him off guard. "You're both Alphas?" Seungcheol said as Seungkwan let out a long dramatic sigh.
"Ovbiously!" Seungkwan had to bit back a growl as Vernon yanked on his hand.
"Boo! Be nice." Vernon whisper yelled before turning back to Seungcheol. "We know it's unconventional, but we care about each other deeply," he explained.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Was the first thing Seungcheol asked
"We were afraid," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "Of how you would react, of what it would mean for our positions as Alphas." Vernon admitted.
Seungkwan nodded in agreement, his own guilt evident in his expression. "Our old leader... he always sided with the elder council. We didn't want to risk losing our roles as Alphas because of who we love." He said.
Seungcheol's heart ached at their words, a pang of sympathy mingling with his own disappointment. He had hoped to foster an environment of trust and acceptance within the pack, but their fear of judgment had kept them from confiding in him.
"I understand," Seungcheol said finally, his voice tinged with regret. "I'm sorry, if I made it seem like you 2 couldn't trust me." Seungcheol apologized.
"No we're sorry, Seungcheol," Vernon said truthfully. "We should have trusted you sooner."
Seungcheol reached out, placing a reassuring hand on each of their shoulders. "What's done is done," he said, his tone gentle but firm.
"But from now on, I want you to know that you can come to me with anything. Your relationship doesn't change how I see you as Alphas or as members of this pack." He said.
"Thank you." Seungkwan said. "And we promise to keep our personal relationship separate from our roles as Alphas," he assured Seungcheol.
"Our priority is always the pack." He added.
Seungcheol nodded, a sense of respect for their commitment to their responsibilities as Alphas.
"As long as you both understand the potential consequences and are prepared to handle them, I won't stand in your way," he smiled.
With a sense of relief, Vernon and Seungkwan exchanged a grateful smile, thankful for Seungcheol's understanding and acceptance, as they rejoined the pack.
'Huh, an Alpha×Alpha couple. That's a first.' Seungcheol thinks to himself with a smile.
Though this news made him wonder what else was going on within his pack.
