Sixty Two

"Looks like we are sleeping outside tonight." Jeonghan sighed as he sat down next to his mate. "What's on your mind?" He asked Seungcheol.

"Huh?" Seungcheol asked, snapping out of his daze.

"You're lost in thought." Jeonghan pointed out. "So, I'll ask again, what's on your mind Cheol?" He asked.

"My father." Seungcheol admitted. "If he does come to our territory, It'll only mean trouble for the pack. I can't let him do that." Seungcheol said.

"I can't let him do that to you guys." Seungcheol added.

"Okay... What do you suppose we do?" Jeonghan asked as Seungcheol hesitated, his hands clenching into fists.

"I've been thinking about it. The more I consider our options, the clearer it becomes that I need to confront him alone." Seungcheol said, Jeonghan's eyes widening in surprise.

"Alone? Seungcheol, you don't have to do this by yourself. We're a pack. We'll stand with you." Jeonghan said.

"I know," Seungcheol said, his voice heavy with emotion. "But I can't ask you all to do that. To make that journey or fight that battle. Espically our younger pack members." Seungcheol said, cupping Jeonghan's face in his palm.

"But what if something happens to you? We can't afford to lose you. The pack needs you, Seungcheol. I need you!" Jeonghan cried out.

"Hey, shh Hannie it's okay. It's going to be okay. Nothing is going to happen to me." Seungcheol swore as he rested his forehead against Jeonghan's.

"Let me go with you. Please." Jeonghan begged.

"Jeonghan I can't." Seungcheol sighed. "My father's pack does not take kindly to strangers, and I don't know how they would take it when they come in contact with a member of the emberfang clan." Seungcheol explained.

"And I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you." He said, kissing Jeonghan softly.

"Promise me you'll be careful." Jeonghan sighed in defeat as he pulled away from the hug slightly.

"I promise." Seungcheol said. "Will you be okay to lead until I return?" He asked.

"I'll do whatever it takes to protect the pack. But make sure you come back to us, Seungcheol." Jeonghan said, his tone serious.

"I will," Seungcheol vowed, his voice filled with resolve. "I will always come back to my family."
