Sapphire's POV:
The last few months have been an emotional rollercoaster. Watching the triplets grow has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Their first words were magical moments that I'll never forget. Leo was the first, his small voice filling the room as he pointed to his favourite toy and said, "Ball." Theo wasn't far behind, looking up at me with those big eyes and saying, "Mama." And Isla, always the curious one, surprised us both by saying, "Light," as she reached out towards the ceiling lamp.
Every milestone they achieved was a joy to behold, and their first steps were no exception. Alessia and I were sitting on the floor, encouraging them to walk between us. Leo, determined as ever, took a few wobbly steps towards me, and I felt tears welling up in my eyes. "Come on, Leo! You can do it!" I cheered, my heart pounding with excitement.
Theo followed suit, his steps more cautious, but he made it to Alessia with a big grin on his face. "Good job, Theo!" Alessia exclaimed, scooping him up in her arms.
Isla took her time, watching her brothers before deciding it was her turn. She stood up, her tiny legs shaking slightly, and made her way to me, her face lighting up with each step. "That's my girl!" I said, catching her in a hug.
While these moments were incredibly fulfilling, they also highlighted how challenging it was to balance my career and motherhood. Playing professional football and taking care of triplets was no small feat, and I often found myself stretched thin. Late-night feedings, early morning training sessions, and the constant demand of being a mum left me exhausted.
One evening, after putting the triplets to bed, I sat down with Alessia. "I don't know if I can keep doing this, Lessi," I admitted, my voice heavy with fatigue.
Alessia looked at me, concern etched on her face. "What do you mean, Saph?"
"I mean, juggling football and the kids. It's becoming too much. I feel like I'm missing out on their childhood because I'm always so tired or preoccupied with training and matches."
She took my hand, squeezing it gently. "Sapphire, you've been incredible. You're an amazing mum and an incredible player. But if you feel like it's too much, we need to find a solution."
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I think... I think I need to retire. I want to be there for the kids, to see all their firsts and not just hear about them from someone else. I want to be a present mum."
Alessia's eyes filled with tears, but she smiled. "If that's what you want, I support you. We'll make it work. You've given so much to football, and now it's time to give to our family."
Sitting down with my phone, I took a deep breath. The decision to retire from football at 24 hadn't been easy, but it was the right one for our family. As I composed my thoughts, I reflected on my journey and the love I had for both football and my family.

It's with a mix of emotions that I announce my retirement from professional football. This decision hasn't been easy, but it's the best one for our family. Balancing the demands of football and being parents to our triplets has been challenging, and after much consideration, I've decided to step away from the game to be a stay-at-home mum.
Football has given me so much over the years – incredible memories, lifelong friends, and the opportunity to represent my clubs and country. But now, it's time to focus on our family and support Alessia as she continues her career.
To my teammates, coaches, and fans, thank you for the support and love you've shown me throughout my career. I'll always cherish the moments we've shared on and off the pitch.
