(John POV)
We arrived at a spot under the shade of a tree that was far away from any other ears.
I sit down, leaning my back against the tree.
"Go on. Have a seat." I said. "Let's at least get comfortable."
"Alright." He replied with a clearly nervous expression.
Sitting down, I looked up to the obsidian ceiling and the sun that shines through.
"So what's going on?" He asked me. "What did you want to talk about? Is this about him?"
"Damian? No." I stated. "I think I've already made my point clear."
The light breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. I turn to look at Lucas.
"There are many things about this realm that you don't understand." I added. "Do you ever wonder why the sun shines and the moon is visible even in Hell?"
"I would guess it's some magic or something." He answered. "I don't know the specifics."
"The answer is that it doesn't." I stated. "In some places at least. This false sky was made. It's only an illusion."
"...That's still magic though." Lucas said. "Illusions are still magic."
I chuckle.
"Yeah." I smiled. "I guess there are still a lot of things for me to learn..."
"Like how you've become this powerful."
"What?" He turned to me. "Oh. I guess it's all the effort I've put into my body. I am half-Angel so that would have an effect."
"No. It's definitely something different." I replied. "Your Angel blood laid dormant for all of these years. Suddenly, you have gained so much power. And that's even before you unlocked your Angel side."
"The supernatural hit me so damn suddenly. How I even got all of this is really crazy. My arm's even turned into this." Lucas pointed at his demonic looking arm... which also kinda looks like the Azure Grimoire.
Despite his demeanor, I can see it clear as day. I've known him enough to know that he isn't saying the truth in the slightest.
"It's not like anything angelic I've seen before. If anything, it kinda looks like that old fly's." I stated. "That move you did. It was [Gluttony]. I haven't seen that skill in many years."
"There has to be a way that I could've obtained this, right?" He exclaimed. "I've obtained these in so little time there has to be an explanation, right?"
A bead of sweat slowly trickled down his face. This guy...
"There is [Enlightenment]." I noted.
"[Enlightenment]?" He responded.
"The way of [Enlightenment] is the means by which all is revealed." I stated. "[Enlightenment] is the umbrella term for many things. But they are many means to the same end, that is: Obtaining an ability or knowledge."
His eyes lit up, connecting dots in his head.
"That must be it!" He exclaimed.
"That could be possible." I said. "It's just that it can't be obtained that easily. You need a certain stimulus"
"Like a near death experience or a very specific trigger." I elaborated. "In the case of Sir Isaac Newton, it was the famous apple that granted him the 'vision' that helped him formulate the laws of motion and gravitation."
"There also exists something called a [Half-Enlightenment] or also known as a [False Enlightenment]." I added. "It's a brief and temporary boost that happens when entering an area of deep concentration. They are much more common than the traditional [Enlightenment]. Hysterical strength is a case of this type of [Enlightenment]. You know. The case where a mother can lift a car to save her child? It could also take form in a sudden spike in firepower. I've already heard some manga have really made that concept more popular.
