Chapter 7 - My office. NOW.

A couple of days go by since Maeve's welcome party and she felt so welcomed and happy around all the staff. It was a boiling hot day today, again and this had made many of the staff members hot and bothered. Especially the managers of the nursery; Autumn, Marjorie and Maeve had the brunt of this heat. Marjorie and Autumn unfortunately had to suffer in their joint office, a broken window which wouldn't be able to open. Whereas Maeve had her own office, only a few doors down from the other women's office, which was sweltering in heat despite trying everything.

She slammed her hands on the desk in annoyance, "For fuck sake!!" Maeve seared. Her work had deleted for the 5th time today, she was getting absolutely sick of it.

Two knocks gently knock her office door, "Come in...doors open" Maeve said trying to sound half as happy as she was. Marjorie appeared from around the corner, "Are you alright? You're making quite a lot of noise" she adds as she steps inside the office. Maeve sighs, pushing her chair back, "My work has deleted for the 5th time today, it's getting so frustrating and this heat doesn't help!" She groans getting up from her chair, she stretches. "Oh.." is all Marjorie said.

Silence again filtered between the sisters again.
It was strange. They would always talk so much as children, now it was just silence. Marjorie stares at Maeve, trying to find in her eyes if her own sister still blamed her for everything.

She turned on her heals and left.

Charlotte's POV:
Me and Carly were just in the rooms doing morning handover with parents. I was in the middle of a morning handover with a parent, "Should we get you some breakfast Ben?" I go level with the sweet boy, he frantically nods and runs over to Sorscha who is sat at the breakfast table with the other kids.
"So I'd just like to remind you that I'll be collecting late this afternoon, I've had to stay extra on at work" Ben's mother adds, sweetly.

I hear over the mother another creepy dad trying to hit on Carly, she seems so uncomfortable. "Sorry I'm sorry I have to cut this handover this short but there's something I have to sort out" I awkwardly hurry as the mother nods and turns around to leave.

I hurry over to Carly and the creepy parent, Terry Who is Josephine's dad. "Hi Terry" I bluntly add looking at Carly, I feel so sorry for her.
"Twittwoo gorgeous hello" Terry adds, slapping my ass, as I bend down to pick up the pen I just dropped. I gasp and shout at him to leave.
I look at Carly and rub her back, "Are you okay?" She sighs and shakes her head, she explains how Terry has been doing this for ages and my heart aches for her. She's so young... I thought again.

"I'll be right back a second, I need to talk to Maeve" I murmur to her

Maeve's POV:
My computer had finally accepted my work and didn't delete it, I dramatically gasp and Charlotte walks in as soon as I do, amber spread on her face. "What's wrong Lottie?" I softly and Charlotte bursts into tears. I haven't seen her cry often, she'd mostly tried to stay strong, for the sake of her family and friends.

I get out of my chair and hug her, I could tell something could have overwhelmed over something that had pushed her over the edge.
She leans her head on my shoulder, "Terry.....Josephine's dad." She softly sobs into my shoulder. I had heard about Terry through Marjorie and Autumn, they said he was trouble but because of his position they didn't know how to handle it. "He's been hitting on m-me and Carly....he slapped my ass a-again. He's always been doing it. His wife is so delusional and says he's 'just a girls girl' it's....its so hard" Charlotte finishes. I wish I could repeat what she had said, but I felt my chest tighten, I struggled to breathe: I heard "He's always been doing it" and everything went static.

Flashback( young Maeve's POV)
It had happened again, there I was shrivelled up on the cold prickling tiles in the bathroom floor. I couldn't breathe... I can't breathe....
It happened so fast, him dragging me down by my hair ripping a chunk out - throwing me down on the ground, I'd hit my head on the counter.
