Chapter 53(C) - Lost in the dark pt2

A/N - I didn't actually expect that the first part of lost in the dark, part 1 would be so long but I thought it was best that this was split into 2 parts, because a lot of things happen in both parts so I thought to get nothing lost within these chapters, there's another part on here.

Tw: Swearing, Violence, Blood and bruising... mentions of child death (I personally know some people who have had people use their own child's death against them in an argument.. so I wanted to highlight that toll too..)

And I know that in the TNN universe Aut doesn't act like this, it's just for the story.

Recap:
"Hold on Maeve.... please hold on" Janice whispered with every touch that moved the pain, as Janice stayed by her side - to remind her that in the darkest moments, there is someone there.

Nearing the hospital she continues, "I'm here Maeve. We're almost there, hold for a little longer..." she hummed which allowed Maeve to use her voice as an anchor to her despair.

In a world where Mia and Charlotte remained cozied up in bed, with self made love and bubbles in their differences. Maeve's struggle was solitary.. a haunting testament to the struggle was a solitary one... to the cruel neglect of their actions. And yet in the arms of Janice, there was a flicker of comfort and a defiant hope that maybe, just maybe...

She would survive.

The hospital was a stark contrast to the chaotic rush that was contained in the air ambulance, the bright fluorescent lights, the sharp antiseptic smell that burned the nose. The damp coldness of the white walls was way too suffocating, making both Maeve and Janice feel surrounded. Maeve barely registered all the blur of voices, yet the one voice that she was able to ground, was Janice's - her best friend that hadn't left her side at all.

She couldn't understand any of the blabbering that they were barking down the halls either.

Her body felt so heavy, like it was just shutting itself down and giving up on herself. The sharp pains still jolted her wounds and down her back, it felt like something too bad, and deeper. Every so often she could hear the odd murmur of doctors voices, "The bleeding hasn't stopped" one doctor said in a hushed tone as the rattles of the chains filled her ears. What did they mean the bleeding hadn't stopped? Maeve didn't think it could be that bad right? "That dark stain on her back hasn't stopped, it's spreading further" she heard another soft murmur of another doctor say, now she was really confused. Stain... what stain? The one that she saw on her hip? Maeve was too confused and she felt too light headed.

From what she had learnt.... this wasn't a simple injury anymore.. something wrong was going on with her but she was too confused to figure out what it was.

Yet amongst all of the chaos that she was experiencing, the one thing that she could truly focus on was Janice. Not her wives that were probably cuddled up in each others arms, not the fact that they did leave her. She was focused on Janice - the person who through all of her panic, had kept her grounded and the simple gesture of holding her hand.. made her feel safe.

Even when the nurses tried to push Janice away from Maeve, she refused to move and she never let go of Maeve's hand, "She's not going in there alone" Janice had snapped at one of the nurses and her voice trembled as she looked at Maeve's innocent body just lying on the stretcher. "I will be with her.." Janice protectively growled and the nurse looked at her. Janice was not one for messing around at that moment, it was a mistaken respect that each shared between them. All the nurses exchanged glances between each other before a nurse turned to her, "Fine. But you have to stay out of the way." she instructed. And just like that Janice was running beside the gurney, still holding Maeve's hand as they ran into the emergency room.
