Spex's POV
I sat down alone.
Spex! It's okay!
I face palmed with frustration as I thought back to when Valé saved me. If only I was stronger... she'd still be here... Braeden wouldn't have had to suffer all alone...
Hyper Crystals and superpowers isn't what makes a hero. And yet even still, I neither have powers, nor am I a hero. I forced hard responsibilities and difficulties onto teenagers... they're so strong that it's hard to forget that they're just kids. Valé shouldn't have had to fight against Jin the way she did.
It's been so long... I'd almost forgotten how I became the #1 hero in the first place...
No. I don't get the luxury of looking back on my rise to greatness. Not after everything we've lost...
Tear drops began falling onto my desk.
Why? Why'd I have to lose my powers? Why couldn't I have been the one that was killed by Jin?
I clenched my fist as I slammed it down on the table.
I'm so sorry Valé... I'm so sorry. We adults, are supposed to carve the path for the young ones... instead your path was cut short... I'm so sorry...
I continued sobbing as tears streamed down my face.
Forgive me Valé... forgive me my young heroes... I've failed you all... I will spend the rest of my life, trying to make it up to all of you.
I quickly wiped my tears away, cleaned up my face. I don't have the right to be sad right now. I need to help preparations for the upcoming battle.
I headed down to the Academy's training room. There I found a group of my young heroes, training together, and helping each other grow stronger. Smiles were on their faces as they sparred with each other.
All of you... are so powerful. Even when I failed you, even with everything you've gone through... you still have the strength to smile. Your strength in turn gives me strength as well... all of you as heroes, have already far surpassed me.
"Spex!" They all smiled when they turned and saw me.
"Hi my young heroes." I smiled. "Let's talk... about our current situation."
Echo's POV
"Echo! Echo!" Minerva excitedly said. "Did you hear?! Braeden is back!"
My eyes widened with awe.
"Really...? He came back?" I said.
I'll kill Jin myself.
My happiness faded when I remembered what he said to me.
"Come on! Let's go see him!" Minerva grabbed my hand but I planted my feet.
"Um you go on ahead. I'll catch up with you..." I quietly said.
"Are... you sure?" She asked.
"Yeah. It's okay." I nodded.
"You're being weird Echo." Said Minerva. "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing!" I said. "Can you just go?"
"Okay okay... sorry..." Minerva said as she walked out of the room.
I didn't mean to snap at her. I'm just... upset and confused. I never knew much about heroes, but I always thought they were supposed to save people... not kill. But even still... Braeden said right to my face, that he was going to kill my dad...
He's done awful things... but...
Braeden's POV
"Jin can't move for a while?" I asked.
