Braeden's POV
Another week had gone by. We were still in Hawaii, spending time here to recover and assist with the rebuilding efforts.
It was beautiful morning, around 6 am. I stood on the Hawaiian beach, staring at the sunrise.
We did it. Jin's defeated. The Legion is defeated. We won the war.
But... I wasn't strong enough. I couldn't win against Jin on my own. I did all I could. I surpassed every limit I had.
The war is over... but I can't help but feel sad. I put on a happy face back at the hospital so I wouldn't worry anyone but...
Tears began welling up in my ways and my chest felt heavy. I felt to my knees, and couldn't stop myself as I burst into tears.
The first person on my mind... was Valé.
"Valé... I miss you so much..." I cried. "I'm sorry... I couldn't defeat him. I'm the furthest thing from a hero..."
I kept crying. I couldn't do anything to save the girl I love. Dylan had to suffer a near death experience because I was too slow. I'm going to lose my powers. This whole time... I was nothing-
"Braeden!" I heard a familiar voice.
I turned around to see Lavana heading towards me."L-Lavana?" I said as I wiped my tears away. "You're awake?"
"Guess so." She said. "I... came looking for you."
"It's okay." I sniffled as I fixed my face. "I'm alright now."
"Why were you crying?" She asked.
"It's nothing. Don't worry." I smiled but more tears formed.
Lavana held her hand out to me.
"Remember before the war began when I was feeling scared? You were there for me. Now I'm going to be here for you. Valé used to always hold my hand when I was nervous about things, or when I was sad because I messed up in Detroit." She smiled, then she held my hand. "I heard you say that you're the furthest thing from a hero. Braeden... if Valé was here and she saw what you sacrificed to stop Jin, she'd say that you were the greatest hero to ever exist."
Tears streamed down my face all over again as Lavana pulled me close, and I cried in her arms.
Declan's POV
Capri and I sat next to each other in the Hawaiian Police station. I had learned how to use my prosthetics quickly, I even surprised the doctors over the past 2 weeks. But it would still be a long time before I could do any hero work.
"Are you ready?" I asked her.
"U-Um actually, you can go first." She nervously said.
"Okay, sure. No problem." Declan said as he looked up at the police officer. "I'm ready."
"Alright." The officer nodded as he began dialing the Underworld Super Prison. After a few moments of conversation, he handed me the phone. "They're only giving you 3 minutes."
"Daniel." I spoke.
"You..." Daniel angrily said.
"Hey man..." I nervously said. "How long is your sentence for?"
"They said that... I'm guilty of association and aided Jin and his group." Daniel said. "I'll be in here for 10 damn years."
"10 years... that's harsh." I said.
"Why are you calling? We aren't friends." He said.
"We used to be." I replied. "I don't have a lot of time but... I wanted to tell you that when your 10 years are up... I'll still be here. So... I want you to consider being a hero again."
