REI POV (Back to the present)

I didn't think I was the person who would be standing at the doors of death and still don't take it seriously. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I am.

My former minister is about to put a glorified death trap around my head after having betrayed me for years but all I can look at is Felix.

Felix was looking extremely distraught. But something was not right. Her silence and defeat were loud to me and maybe Conti was also caught.

He paused, doubt flashing in his eyes. What made him turn around wasn't his perceived notions but a loud bang. This seems to also be why Felix wasn't half kneeling anymore, she was up and striding towards Conti.

"Sorry Rei, your car needed to go." She winked. She took out a flare, shooting it in the sky as to signal her position.

Felix then tried to enter the magic circle where Conti and I were, as the men scambled to attack her again. However, she couldn't enter, as if the circle itself had bound her.

"You can try your cheap tricks. But I have been preparing for this for half my life. No matter who you call. What you do. You are dying here and you man will be my puppet for life." Conti snickered and glared down at me. "Now were we my dearest Majesty," he lowered the bloodied chain around my head, "Ah, yes, your medal of honour."

Felix was struggling against Conti's men but she no longer spoke instead she seemed to be chanting something. She pushed two of them away. And said "NOW"

As if that now was a triggered word, my body started tingling, right from my gloved hand to my head and toes. I realised her intention a bit too late, and warned her, "No FELIX!!"

But I was late, like always I was late. I wasn't kneeling in the magic circle anymore, and instead it was Felix. Who was in my place. With the chain around her neck, her body fell down  and the magic circle vanished as I lunged towards her.

I could hear Conti cursing at Felix as he tried to remove it from her neck but it just sizzled and burned his hands. His men were trying to pull me back from running up to them. I don't know how many were pulling me back, someone was grabbing my neck, some were pulling my shirt, and some even pulling my hair and legs. But I couldn't see anything beyond the rapidly blueing body of Felix, being jerked around by Conti on the snow.

I had started flinging people around left right and center. I didn't look who tried to stop me I was using every bit of my strength just to throw them off. Someone had kicked my knees from behind me but I tried my hardest to move on my knees and not let me overwhelm me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see someone pulling Conti away from Felix and punching the living daylights out of him. It distracted his men enough for me to throw away the last couple of them and dash towards Felix.

I wanted to hit Conti myself, but Felix was more important. I shouted to the person hitting Conti, which I now know was Acimer, "Don't kill him, we might need to get answers from him."

The chain had leached onto Felix's skin and burnt the skin around her neck red. I tried to break the chain with strength but it didn't budge, the red staining her skin further.

I tried to desperately find a joint somewhere in the chain, some way there might be something that helps this loop around itself. Anything, ANYTHING that gives me the room to pry it open or break it apart.

"Orief let it go, your hands are burnt."

But the chain was so many small rings together that even with my vision it proved unfruitful. The jewels hanging on the chain were turning more and more red as Felix's body turned more and more blue.

"Orief, let it go, think clearly."

The chain seems to be made up of some metal. I know metals but I didn't see this one before. It must be made up o-

"ORIEF!"

I was thrown into the snow by Acimer. I got up to go look at the chain again when Acimer slammed into me again.

"Orief, snap out of it. Look at me. Orief."

The metal probably had a tricky melting point and it is not a safe method, so cutting it with something might work, I can g-

*SLAP*

"I will apologise for the slap later, Your Majesty. I do hope you are finally THINKING and not being a fool."

"Fool. FOOL. Acimer do not patronise me. She doesn't have time. I need to do something. And do something fast. You don't get it, I-"

Acime caged my face and forced me to look at him, "You can't save her anymore, she is supposed to die, that's her curse."
