THEY APPROACHED the church's doors. rick and daryl lead the way slowly opening the big red doors to reveal the empty abandoned church. to faye's surprise it was surprisingly clean, not wrecked like buildings she'd seen before. sat at the pews were a few walkers scattered around. the sound of the creaking door made them slowly turn their heads.

chills ran down the girls spine as the walkers slowly stood up like something you'd see in a sinister horror movie. but that was the thing nowadays; they were living in a horror movie.

shane, rick and daryl took out the walkers leaving the rest of the group by the doors watching the scene, watching each man take multiple swings to the dead's head.

rick yelled for sophia while daryl mumbled something to the jesus statue at the front of the church. faye nervously lingered close to daryl seeking comfort in this scary world.

"i'm telling you, it's the wrong church rick. there's no steeple." shane whispered. just then bells rang again, everyone rushed outside to the side of the church. "it's a timer. it's on a timer." daryl sighed.

"i'm gonna go back in for a bit." carol croaked out. faye's heart faltered at carols tone. she truly and deeply felt for the lady.

in the church, everyone else sat around. lori sat down the front with carol praying while faye sat next to her dad her knees up to her chest. she was never that religious and when the apocalypse hit she wondered why anyone could still believe in such a powerful man if all this happened to the world? her mind drifted from one thing to the other only being snapped out of her thoughts to daryl patting her on the back gesturing for her to come on.

the group crowded outside waiting for their next plan of action. in the distance rick and shane discussed in hushed tones while everyone else sat lost in their own thoughts.

"what's your favourite colour?" carl spoke up quietly making faye turn her head with a questionable expression. "purple.. why??" she furrowed her brows. carl didn't answer just simply handed her a small purple flower he had just picked from the ground "thank you." she smiled softly taking the flower from his hand and placing it in the pocket of her shorts, the petals flowing out.

daryl, who watched the whole interaction fought back his smirk when faye looked up at him. trying to keep the tough protective dad look but seeing his daughter happy warmed his heart too much and made him soft (which he'd never admit.)

"yall gotta follow the creek bed back. daryl, you're in charge." shane announced clearing his throat before he spoke. "me and rick were just gonna hang back. search this area for another hour or so." he placed his hands on his hips.

"you're splitting us up. you sure?" concern filled daryl's voice. "yeah, we'll catch up to you." shane muttered

"i wanna stay too." carl spoke up, faye's brows furrowed in concern. "i'm her friend." he added. shane and rick looked at eachother then back at lori.

lori sighed for a moment before speaking "just be careful okay?" she placed her hands on his cheeks. "when did you start growing up." she mumbled pulling the boy into her embrace and kissing his head. faye watched the two silently yearning for a relationship like that with her mother.

although, she didn't know what happened to her mother. she'd seen her a few times when she visited after daryl and her split up but she slowly got more distant no matter how much daryl reassured faye that she didn't drive her mother away and it was fully her mother's decision, faye still carried lingering guilt that maybe she did something wrong one day?

daryl noticed the slight frown etched on faye's face and placed a comforting hand on her back tracing small circles.

"i'm not taking your gun and leaving you unarmed." lori spoke up as rick tried handing her the gun. "here, take fayes." daryl mumbled handing over the gun he was keeping in his waistband ever since he confiscated it from faye when she was caught trying to shoot shane with an unloaded gun behind his back.

faye gave carl a small tight lipped smile before following the rest of the group. silently praying nothing would happen to her bestfriend.

THE GROUP trailed through the woods, faye engaged in small chatter with glenn often giggling at something he had said in an attempt to lift the girls mood.

"so this is it? this the whole plan?" carol spoke up sitting down on a log.

"i guess the plan is to whittle us down into smaller and smaller groups." daryl replied leaning against a tree.

"carrying knives and pointy sticks." andrea added "i see you have a gun." she glared at lori.

"why? you want it?" lori sighed "here, take it." she spoke, clearly fed up with andrea's snarky remarks. "i'm sick of the looks you're giving me. all of you." lori quietly spoke sitting down.

"honey, i can't imagine what you're going through and i would do anything to stop it. but you have gotta stop blaming rick. it is in your face everytime you look at him." lori began again.

"when sophia ran he didn't hesitate did he? not for a second. i don't know if any of us would have gone after her the way he did or made the hard decisions he made or that anybody could have done anything differently. she glared at the frail woman that refused to make eye contact with her.

"i don't get why you're acting like you care, you have your kid! so does daryl and yet you two seem to be acting the most worried." carol spoke up.

"hey, no need to be a bitch. it's not any of our faults your daughter decided to make a dumb decision." faye crossed arms clearly pissed carol had brought up her father. "faith." daryl firmly spoke. faye turned her head scowling at her dad but listening. she crossed her arms silently standing next to her dad leaning on the same tree.

andrea handed the gun back to lori "we should keep moving." she quietly spoke.

" 'm not saying what you said was wrong but you shouldn't have said that to her face, faith." daryl whispered to his daughter who had a permanent scowl etched on her face. "someone needed to." she swung her arms up slightly.

"stop being childish." he replied "i'm a child, i'm gonna be childish dummy." she rolled her eyes. "smartass." he muttered under his breath
