the two sat in faye's bedroom, both comfortably reading a comic together, something they seemed to do every single day. if faye was honest, she didn't care what they did each day, she just enjoyed spending time with him.

the quiet, sweet moment didn't last long as a piercing scream from outside broke the silence. faye rushed to her feet, glancing out her window spotting multiple strangers running around with weapons, charging at multiple alexandria members.

"we saw from upstairs, they're coming in from all over." faye alerted carol, who stood at the bottom of the stairs, her face full of distress.

"you two have to stay here and keep judith safe." carol exclaimed as she rushed out the front door.

the two looked at eachother for a moment, before carl spoke. "okay, watch the backdoor tell me if you see them coming." he ordered.

"i'm not staying, i have to go help." faye furrowed her brows, pulling out her machete. "you're not going anywhere." carl left no room for discussion. there was no chance he was gonna let her go out there by herself.

"sit down. you're helping me protect judith." he said in a firm tone.

faye huffed, looking at the door, then back at carl. usually her stubbornness would take over and she'd already be out the door, but the thought of carl and judith getting into danger and her not being able to save them took over. she let out a small sigh before sitting down back to back with carl.

"this place is too big to protect." faye stated. "there are too many blind spots."

"they got in the walls, but they're gonna die." carl interrupted her, he knew how bad she overthought in scary situations. "all of them."

"someone's coming after your friend." faye glanced out the window, spotting a man chasing after ron. carl swung the door open, shooting the man that chased ron in the leg, making him fall to the ground and ron get away.

carl inched closer to the man on the ground, faye couldn't hear him but she could tell the man was begging for his life. as carl got closer, the man grabbed carls leg. faye gasped as carl managed to shoot the man.

"come inside. we can keep you safe." carol told ron, who seemed startled. ron looked at carl, his eyes full of resent. "no." he muttered before running off towards his house.

"carl, come on!" faye yelled. "if he wants to get himself killed that's his decision." she muttered as she shut the front door.

the timer for carols cookies went off, startling the two. carl quickly got them out, placing them on the counter for the woman for when she got back, if she got back. he turned around to look at faye, who stared at the ground, her expression emotionless.

"you okay?" carl gained her attention. "it's never gonna get better, we're never gonna be safe." she looked up at him, her eyes dull.

soon after, carl and faye headed outside. around the small town, people carried bodies away and a small crowd formed down the front by the gate.

it became more apparent that rick was holding a speech. he seemed to be the only one who came back from the mission he set up. "where's my dad?" faye looked around in distress.

"daryl, abraham, sasha. they have vehicles. they're gonna lead them away just like the others. and glenn and nicholas are gonna walk back through the gate after. they know what they're doing, and we know what we have to do. we keep the noise to a minimum, pull our blinds at night, even better, keep the lights off." rick rambled, pacing back and forth.
