THE LADY now known as maggie, lead the 3 into the room where carl rested. around the bed sat maggies father, lori and rick. fayes eyes softened as she saw her bestfriend, passed out in the bed. she noticed how peaceful he looked when he was unconscious. it was the most peaceful she'd seen him in awhile.

glenn exchanged a few words with rick and lori, their replies very dismissive and short. it was obvious they were in a state of shock and worry.

maggie lead the 3 out the room trying to start a conversation with glenn. faye clung to the fabric of glenn's shirt nervously as she followed maggie into the kitchen. maggie prepared a sandwich for each before patrica, another member of the greene household began stitching up t-dogs arm.

"merle dixon. is that your friend with the antibiotics?" patrica spoke up, her eyes never leaving t-dogs arm. "no, ma'am. merles no longer with us. daryl gave us those.. his brother." glenn swiftly replied.

"not sure id call him a friend." t-dog winced. "he is today. this doxycycline might have just saved your life." she continued stitching the man's arm.

"you know what merle was taking it for?" she asked. "the clap. um venereal disease." glenn tried to keep a straight face. "that's what daryl said."

"i'd say merle dixons clap is the best thing that ever happened to you." patrica's eyes darted from glenn to t-dog. "i'm really trying not to think about that." t-dog winced at the never ending pain in his arm

glenn left the house and faye soon followed. finding him sat on the chair staring into the distance. "whatcha thinking about" faye spoke up as she shut the door. "nothing" he gave her a tight lipped smile. "that's bullshit, you can't think about nothing that's impossible" she crossed her arms making glenn breathily chuckle.

"maggies pretty, they all seem nice." the girl continued as she sat down on the porch next to glenn. "yeah, yeah i guess so." glenn's eyes met hers. "what are you worried about, you've got that look on your face." glenn furrowed his brows at the sight of the girl. "carl. my dad. sophia." she bluntly replied staring into the dark fields infront of the farm house.

the two sat in silence for a few minutes before maggie came out on the porch. "you prayin?" she tilted her head slowly approaching the two. glenn's head whipped around at the sudden noise "why do you creep up on people so much." he ran his hand over his face. "you're easy to sneak up on." she mumbled sitting down on the porch railing.

"i was praying. faye probably not so much." he smiled slightly messing up the girls hair. faye said nothing simply giving maggie a small wave.

"i was trying to." he continued "you religious? you pray alot?" maggie asked, intrigued in the boy. "actually this was my first try." he looked up at the woman "ever?" she raised her eyebrows. glenn gave her a nod in response. "wow. sorry. i didn't mean to wreck your first time." maggie picked the fabric of her jeans

"god probably got the gist." he breathily chuckled. "praying for what?" she furrowed her brows. "my friends. looks like they could all use a little help right now." he stared at his shoes.

"you think.. you think god exists?" glenn began again. finally getting what he was thinking about off his chest.

"i always took it on faith. lately ive wondered. everything that's happened there must of been a lot of praying going on and it seems quite a few went unanswered." faye listened intently to the woman's words.

"thanks.. this is really helping." glenn sarcastically replied. "sorry. go ahead." she stared out into the distance. "you gonna watch?" glenn furrowed his brows. "i'll get you a refill instead." she muttered picking up the mug and walking into the house.

faye gently knocked on the bedroom door, she stood in the doorway her eyes darted to her injured bestfriend in the bed before making eye contact with lori and rick

"come on in faye." lori gave her a tight lipped smile opening her arms for the girl. lori held the girl in her arms on her lap while talking to rick quietly. this was the safest and loved faye had felt in ages.

rick admired his wife and faye knowing they both needed this feeling as much as the other. lori needing the feeling of holding and comforting a child again and faye needing the feeling of being held and comforted again.

a few moments later the older man now known as hershel checked on carl. "he's still losing blood faster than we can replace it. and with the swelling in his abdomen we can't wait any longer. or he's just going to slip away." he announced. faye walked out the room, she'd heard enough and didn't wanna be there if he was right.

she sat on the porch, fidgeting with the necklace carl had found for her a few days prior, a few days before everything happened. a car pulled up making her tense. she reached for her pocket knife before meeting eyes with shane.

"faye get your ass inside. you can't be out here alone." he called out grabbing the bags from the car. "yes sir." she rolled her eyes walking back into the farmhouse.

an hour passed and now lori, rick, t-dog, shane and faye sat on the porch. anxiously waiting for the results of carls surgery.

the door swung opened and everyone's heads whipped around. "he seems to have stabilised." hershel announces. rick brings the older man into a hug relieved he'd saved his son.

faye beamed at the man's words, her bestfriend wasn't dying. she wasn't losing anyone else. or so she thought.

the next morning faye sat on the stairs to the porch, zoned out in her own world. the rumble of a motorbike made her head whip up. in the distance daryls motorbike, a car and the RV were pulling into the farm. as they pulled up infront of the house faye rushed to her feet running to her father.

"daddy!" she exclaimed wrapping her arms around the man relieved he was finally back. "promised i'd find ya didn't i?" he mumbled patting her back as she clung to him.

later on the group crowded around the cairn built to remember otis, a beloved member of the greene family that passed in mission to get supplies to save carl.

faye tried her best to focus on the things hershel was saying. but she couldn't help but stare at shane. the look on his face was unsettling was otis' death really due to walkers? she thought to herself. she pushed the thought to the back of her mind her gaze back on hershel.

the sun blared down onto faye as she sat on the small wooden swing at the side of the farmhouse. in the distance she saw her father walking off on his own. she sighed to herself, a frown etched on her face.

she hated how careless daryl was with his life. they were the only family eachother had left was faye not enough for daryl to be careful with his life?

"he'll be fine. you know that." lori spoke up breaking faye out of her trance. "sick of him risking his life." she mumbled.
