FAYE GENTLY rocked baby judith in her arms. "ain't no way." she heard her uncle mutter. "what?" carol furrowed her brows at his sudden words. "nothing. we got any whiskey?" he asked, a grin plastered onto his face. "go to hell, merle." carol replied bluntly.

"are you with us?" carol asked, her gaze fixated on the gun she was reloading. "sure." he mumbled. "i'm not talking about occupying the same space." she clarified, her tone carrying a hint of annoyance. "are you with us?" she looked up at him.

"i'm here for my brother." merle admitted making faye scoff quietly. he didn't give a shit about his niece and it was obvious. "well, he's here for us. for his daughter." carol remarked, glancing over at faye.

faye intently listened to her uncle pick at carol, each time pissing her off more and more. she wanted to scream in his face, tell him to shut the fuck up but she knew how that would end up so she stayed silent.

a few hours later, rick hosted another meeting in courtyard. faye sat down next to carl intently listening to what rick had to say. "when i met with the governor.. he offered me a deal. he said.. he said he'd leave us alone if i gave him michonne." rick revealed. fayes eyes widened at his words, how could he build up someone's trust just to backstab them? "and i was gonna do that.. to keep us safe. i changed my mind." he continued.

"but now merle took michonne to fulfill the deal." faye looked at the man in disbelief. he told merle about the plan but not his own group members? "and daryl went to stop him but i don't know if it's too late."

"i was wrong not to tell you." his tone was full of guilt and remorse. "and im sorry." he apologised.

"what i said last year, that first night after the farm.. it can't be like that. it can't. what we do, what we're willing to do, who we are. it's not my call. it can't be. i couldn't sacrifice one of us for the greater good because we ARE the greater good. we're the reason we're still here. not me." rick ranted, getting everything off his chest before walking off, leaving everyone in slight shock.

daryl returned, faye opened the gate for him confused on why he looked so upset. as soon as she closed the gate, the man wrapped him arms around his daughter, holding her tight to his chest. his body began to shake with sobs. his tears fell freely, streaking down his face and onto her shirt. "daddy what's wrong?" faye furrowed her brows at his sudden movements. the man stayed silent, leaving her question unanswered.

later on it was revealed that merle was dead. would they ever stop loosing people?

〰️

the next morning, everyone was left packing up their things. the prison had given them a good time of safety and sanctuary but of course, nothing lasts forever.

she noticed how angry carl looked, silently debating on trying to talk to him or not. she slung her bag into the car trunk. before following hershel along with beth who held baby judith and carl who was instructed to keep them safe while the others went along with the plan.

hershel took the 4 up to the woods, they ducked behind an abandoned carl which had sat for so long it had started to grow ivy and moss onto it. faye kept her head tucked in, not wanting to even peek at the prison as she silently prayed that everything would lwork out. her body trembled as her mind ran through every possible outcome this attack could have.

suddenly, footsteps coming towards the 5 gained carls attention, he came out from behind the car, aiming his gun at a younger looking man. faye followed along, bringing up her gun along with hershel. "whoa, whoa, whoa don't shoot." the man raised his hands in surrender. "drop the weapon, son." hershel demanded.

"yeah, sure here." he slowly began to pass his gun over to carl. carl pulled the trigger, a silenced gunshot made fayes eyes widen as she realised what her bestfriend had just done. "come on, i think the fights over." hershel spoke up, guiding them back to the prison.

faye noticed carls face the whole time they walked back, his face full of guilt, remorse, slight sense of pride. faye was proud of him too, this was the same boy who couldn't kill a single walker to protect himself back at the farm, now he'd killed someone to protect his group.

they arrived back in the prison, faye wrapped her arms around her dad, who was just as relieved to see her as she was to see him. "dad, i'm coming to woodbury." she could hear carl mutter to his dad. "i did my job out there, just like all of you. took out one of the governors soldiers."

"one of his soldiers? a kid running away." hershel tried to correct him, still shocked at the boys actions. "no, he drew on us." carls tone flooded with defensiveness. "i'm sorry you had to that." rick placed his hands on the boys shoulders, trying to divert away from the lingering tension between carl and hershel. "it's what i was there for." he nodded, his eyes darting over to faye. "i'm going with you." he told his dad firmly, before walking away.

"i was there. he didn't have to shoot. he had every reason not to" hershel insisted. "what was he meant to do? there was no way of telling if that man had other weapons, ready to kill us when we least expected it. you really think he should've trusted one of the governors men? you're so stupid." faye rambled, getting frustrated at hershel.

"faith." daryl said, in a warning tone. she rolled her eyes and huffed in response. "whatever." she muttered under her breath before storming back into her cell.

an hour went by and the grumbling of engines made faye grab her gun and slowly and cautiously head outside. she was met with the sight of michonne, daryl and rick returning back to the prison, although this time a bus full of people followed behind the car and motorbike.

"what the fuck" the girl furrowed her brows in confusion, "what is this?" carl asked his dad. "they're gonna join us." rick announced.
