RICK HADN'T MOVED or said anything for a good few minutes. his eyes locked onto the baby. "you with me, man?" daryl waved his arms infront of his face.

"let me see the baby." hershel called out, gaining carls attention who now held his baby sister tight in his arms.

"what are we gonna feed it? we got anything a baby can eat?" daryl asked.

"the good news is she looks healthy, but she needs formula. and fast soon or she won't survive." hershel revealed, as he looked up from the baby.

"nope, no way, not her. we can't lose anyone else. i'm going on a run." he slung his crossbow over his shoulder. faye chewed on her lip at the thought of her dad risking his life again.

"i'll back you up." maggie spoke up "i'll go too." glenn added. "okay, think where we're going." he told the two "faye." he called his daughter over.

"kid, just lost his mom. his dad ain't doing so hot." he whispered. "i'll look after him." she nodded.

everyone went off doing their own thing. faye found carl sat on his bunk staring at his hands which were stained slightly red from the blood. "hey." she murmured, taking a seat next to him. "you don't have to talk. i'll sit here in silence with you. i just don't want you to be alone." she explained, giving him a tight lipped comforting smile.

the two sat there in silence, faye enjoyed the silent company. she didn't push him to talk or anything but she made it clear she was here if he needed.

eventually the two moved to the tables where everyone else sat, beth placed the baby in carls arms. daryl and maggie arrived back soon after.

"how's she doing?" daryl whispered as carl handed the screaming baby over. daryl rocked the baby gently as he fed her, whispering soothing words.

faye watched her dad comfort the baby, how gentle he was with her. she chewed on her bottom lip and fidgeted with her fingers while listening to her father.

the next morning was the same as always. faye sat on the steps with her dad quietly chewing on her breakfast. rick came in unexpectedly "everybody okay?"

"what about you?" hershel spoke up. "i cleared out the boiler block." he revealed.

"how many were there?" daryl chimed in. "i don't know. a dozen maybe two dozen. i have to get back i just wanted to check on carl." he patted his sons back.

"rick, we can handle taking out the bodies. you don't have to." glenn stood up. "no i do." he nodded.

"everyone have a gun and a knife?" rick rushed over to daryl. "yeah, we're running low on ammo though."

"maggie and me were planning on making a run this afternoon." glenn piped up. "found a phone book with a few places we can hit, look for bullets and formula."

after breakfast, faye begged her dad to take her with him when they sweeped the lower levels in which he refused for her safety and took carl and a  prisoner instead.

she rolled her eyes, crossing her arms as she stormed back into her cell.

she stubbornly stayed in her cell, doodling on the walls with a sharpie. she drew some flowers along with a rabbit she'd called hermit. she hummed "you are my sunshine" quietly to herself, a song her mom sang to her when she was 4.

the quiet atmosphere was soon interrupted by fuss in the room over. she quickly ran down the stairs, into the room meet eyes with rick who was carrying an unfamiliar woman over his shoulder while hershel, beth and carl scurried around in distress.

as he gently poured water over the woman, she woke up in a panicked state. her eyes darted around the room. she reached for the katana until faye swiftly moved it away with her foot.

"we aren't gonna hurt you unless you do something stupid first, alright?" rick reassured her.

"rick." daryl called out as he walked out of the cellblock. "who the hell is this." he moved closer to his daughter in a protective manner.

"you wanna tell us your name?" rick turned his attention back to the woman. the woman blankly stared at him in response.

"yall wanna come on in here." daryl told the group. "is everything alright?" rick asked, a hint of concern in his tone. "you're gonna wanna see this." he gestured to the cells.

in a cell at the other end of the room, sat carol on the bed with a small grin on her face. "carol!" faye grinned rushing to the woman who opened her arms for the younger girl.

"poor thing fought her way into a cell. must have passed out. dehydrated." daryl remarked as carol moved to hug rick

once carol had hugged rick and hershel, she turned to beth who held the baby in her arms. she looked back to rick in realization that lori had died in labour. tears brimmed her eyes as she pulled the man close again "oh, im so sorry." she whispered shakily.

the woman sobbed as beth handed her the baby. fayes eyes darted to ricks, which were filled with tears, then to carls which were just the same. she shuffled closer to him giving him a small sympathetic smile.

later on, faye sat down on at the small round table, watching hershel stitch up the woman's gunshot wound. "she's pretty." faye mumbled to carl. "doesn't mean she won't kill us." he replied bluntly.

faye sound found out that rick, the lady, both prisoners and daryl were going to go get maggie and glenn back. she followed the group outside where they were loading up the cars.

"stop worrying, i'll be fine." daryl spoke up, noticing the expression on his daughters face. "wasn't worried." she pretended to be unbothered. "yeah, okay." daryl smirked.

"i'll be back as soon as possible. i promise." he firmly told her as he pulled away from the hug, noticing the still worried look on her face. she interlocked her pinky with his and gave him a small nod as she walked away.
