A WEEK LATER
everything went back to normal. the sickness was over and everyone was allowed back in their normal cell blocks.faye was sat in her cell when an explosion erupted, shaking the whole building. she grabbed her gun, rushing outside in urgency.
she hid behind a wall along with beth, maggie and carl, peering out spotting a couple of cars and a tank outside the gates. "rick! come down here." the governors cold piercing voice called out. "it's not up to me!!! there's a council now they run this place." rick exclaimed.
"is hershel on the council?" the man raised his eyebrows, gesturing to a woman who brought hershel out her car, his arms tied behind his back. "what about michonne?" a man dragged the woman out his car.
faye nervously chewed on her bottom lip, watching rick walk down the gravel path towards the governor. "things go south, everybody heads for that bus." daryl spoke in a hushed tone.
daryl discreetly handed everyone guns, much more powerful than fayes small handgun. her eyes never left rick and the governor as she received her gun. "we've gotta do something." carl said, his tone full of worry. "your dads got it." daryl reassured the boy.
rick and the governor exchanged a few more words before the governor jumped down from the tank, grabbing a katana and holding it up to hershel's neck. faye could tell by ricks body language he was desperate to rationalise with the governor. suddenly the governor swung back the katana, beheading hershel.
faye gasped as rick let out a yell, taking a shot at the governor and running back up the path. she began to start shooting at the governors men frantically, still in shock at what had just occurred. it was all so overwhelming with the sounds of bullets flying past the girls ears, beth and maggies sobs, the gunshots faye felt like she could be sick.
the tank began to roll in through the fences, towards the prison. "FAITH RUN" daryl demanded, letting out a few more shots at the governor and his men. faye grabbed carls arm dragging him with her, she could feel her heart pounding inside her chest, her chest getting tight. the bus was gone, her eyes widened realising they had no escape out.
suddenly, everything got quieter, explosions stopped. was it over? was anyone else alive? hearing rick call for carl was like a small weight being lifted off their shoulders, the two ran trying to find the man, taking out two walkers revealing the man, bruised and injured.
faye watched the man and son reunite, rick brought carl into a tight, protective embrace. the girl caught her breath as she waited for them to be done, looking around at the prison which they once called home now was a war zone.
"judith.. where is she.." rick pulled away from the hug, looking around. "s-she should be on the bus." faye told him, she'd seen lizzy and the other kids carrying judith in her carrier a few minutes ago.
the three walked down the prisons courtyard, spotting a car seat judith's car seat, drenched with blood.
rick and carl let out sobs, getting choked up. faye wiped her tears with her sleeve, sniffing. realisation only just hitting her, they could very well be the only three alive. her dad could be dead. they slowly headed into the woods, faye took one more look back at the prison, grieving the loss of sanctuary and the people that lived there.
〰️
the three walked down a road, carl stormed ahead while faye stayed behind with rick. "carl.. slow down." rick winced in pain "we need to stick together."
