rick blocked the stairs off with the couch, trapping everyone upstairs. faye anxiously awaited for rick to come up with a plan, her leg bobbing up and down as she chewed on her lip.

soon, he dragged a walker up the stairs. "we're gonna need bedsheets, a lot of them." rick instructed. faye knew all too well what he was planning, a trick she'd heard of before.

everyone put on their makeshift ponchos, spreading walker guts all over to mask the smell. faye pulled a face of grimace as michonne lathered the sheet with the guts, the smell was sickening.

"we need to go." michonne stated as she peered over the bannister, the walkers were multiplying, pushing against the sofa that blocked the stairs. "i'll get judith." faye muttered, her face full of anxiety.

faye lifted judith out the pack n play, placing a small kiss on the baby's head as she walked back out the others, handing the baby over to carl. who placed her comfortably under the poncho.

the group walked slowly outside the house, standing on the porch, admiring the hundreds of walkers flooding the streets. everyone interlocked hands, faye's grip on carls hand tighter than usual. he squeezed her hand tight, as if to try calm her and tell her everything was gonna be fine but the truth was; he didn't know if anything was gonna be fine, he didn't know if anyone would make it out alive.

the group reached the middle of town when rick stopped. "alright, new plan. flares from a few guns aren't enough, too many walkers to spread out. we're not going to the armory. we need our vehicles back at the quarry." he muttered as low as the walkers growled.

"okay. but judith to the quarry and back.. i.." jessie shook her head. one cry from judith could kill them all and there were no promises she'd stay quiet for longer than a few minutes.

"i'll take her." gabriel volunteered. "keep her safe in my church until you all lead the walkers away."

"can you do this?" faye raised her eyebrows. "i'm supposed to." gabriel nodded.

rick nodded to carl, making him slowly transfer judith from him to gabriel. the small scared whimpers from the baby broke faye's heart, she silently prayed everything would work out, father gabriel would keep his word and protect baby judith.

"take sam." jessie placed her hand on her youngest sons shoulder. "mom- no-" the boy argued. "i'm not leaving you." his voice croaked.

"sam.." jessie mumbled.

"mom, i'm not. i can keep going." sam looked up at her with determination. "okay." jessie muttered, giving in to her sons pleas.

"i will keep her safe." gabriel turned back to rick, reassuring that he'd keep his daughter safe. they watched as gabriel walked away towards the church with judith before interlocking their hands again. faye firmly held onto carl and jessie's hand as they continued to walk through alexandria.

the sunset and the group was still slowly pacing through alexandria. faye's eyes darted from each walker they walked past, some old, some kids, some teenagers. she thought about their lives before the outbreak. they were people like her once.

sam let go of ricks hand, staring into the distance at a little boy walker. "sam?" jessie furrowed her brows as she spoke softly.

sam's lip began to quiver, his shakey breaths started to gain attention from some walkers. "sweetheart? sam?" jessie continued to try soothe him but it just seemed like every word drove him closer to tears.

suddenly, two walkers approached him taking a bite out his head and shoulder. jessie let out a piercing scream as she watched her son get eaten alive, gaining more attention from the walkers.

faye tugged on jessie's hand, trying to snap her out of her distress for a moment. but it was no use, another few walkers came over taking a bite into jessie's neck. as jessie got tore to pieces by the walkers, her hand still firmly grasped onto faye's arm. carl tugged at his girlfriend trying to pull her away from the woman.

as he pulled her off of the woman, he fell to the ground and dropping his gun. faye helped him up, panting in distress before a gun behind her boyfriend cocked.

ron stood a few feet away, aiming his gun at rick. just before the boy pulled the trigger, a walker bumped into carl, pushing him forward into ron's shot.

faye's eyes widened, her anger taking over as she pulled out her machete "faye i-" ron stammered before being silenced from being stabbed in the chest by faye.

"dad.." carls voice rung out. faye's head snapped around spotting her boyfriend who now only had one eye. carl dropped to the floor a moment after. rick quickly scooped him up and lead michonne and faye to the infirmary. faye and michonne ran infront, taking out the walkers clearing a space for rick to run through. she could feel her heart in her throat, not caring about anything other than getting carl to the infirmary. she wasn't loosing him today. she couldn't.

as they reached the infirmary, denise swung the door open. it seemed like she already knew what happened. "this is a gunshot?" she called out, following rick to the gurney.

"gunshot, close range." michonne replied as she slammed the door shut. temporarily protecting them from the dangers outside. "please save him." rick muttered as he backed away from where his son now lay.

faye never took her eyes off of carl, standing a few feet away watching helplessly. she wanted to cry and scream. she kept replaying the moment over and over in her head, ron's face as she stabbed him, the sound of carl thudding the ground. it all felt surreal, like a nightmare she couldn't escape.

the next thing she knew, rick rushed out the door and began to take out the walkers like a madman. michonne followed soon after, she was just about to follow the two before denise yelled for her to come back and help.

she sat close by the whole time denise worked on carls eye, helping out when needed. soon after, denise moved him to another room to heal, faye sat by his bedside, her thumb rubbing over the back of his hand. it wasn't guaranteed that he WOULD wake up.

eventually the sun rose, the sound of rick entering the room snapped faye out of her disassociation. "uh- your- dads back" he muttered, still trying to process everything that occurred over the past 24 hours. faye nodded, placing a hand on his arm in comfort before leaving him in the room to have time with his son.

she wandered through the infirmary till she spotted her dad sat on a table getting stitched up. she silently stood by his side without saying a word. "you alright?" he grumbled. "mhm." she nodded.
