IT HAD BEEN EIGHT MONTHS since the horde invaded the greene farm. the group had been on the road all winter scavenging house to house.

today was like none other. t-dog, rick and daryl approached the house, taking out the walkers. once the walkers were gone, faye and carl joined them to scavenge.

the two walked into the kitchen, searching for any food. a can of beans would be like a pot of gold to them at this point.

"anything?" faye furrowed her brows. "just this." he held up two cans of dog food. "scrumptious." she muttered.

carl peered into the bathroom, taking out another walker while glenn and maggie walked into the kitchen joining the two.

a few moments later rick let the others in now that the building was safe. maggie and glenn moved the walkers bodies next to the stairs while daryl guided faye and carl into the living room, owl in hand.

faye sat by the doorway, her knees up to her chest, watching carl open up a can of dog food. rick took the can from his son and threw it in the fireplace making faye flinch at the sudden noise.

everyone stayed silent, lost in their own thoughts before t-dog alerted rick walkers were coming. everyone grabbed their things and rushed out the back door, towards the cars.

faye slung her backpack over her shoulder, picking up loris sleeping bag for her to help the pregnant woman. she threw the sleeping bag into the back of glenn's car before hopping on the back of her dads bike.

they drove for awhile for the walkers to lose them before parking up and discussing the next plan. faye and carl stood on guard while the adults discussed where to go next.

"goin' hunting. stay with hershel" daryl mumbled to faye before catching up with rick. faye nodded in response her eyes never pulling away from the distance

rick and daryl only spent 10 minutes hunting before coming back to the group saying they'd found a possible sanctuary.

when they reached the "sanctuary" daryl and rick mentioned, faye looked around at the place. it was a prison. in the grassy area walkers trailed all over the place.

the girl gave her dad a 'are you serious' look as rick cut the gate. she stepped through the hole, nervously watching glenn tie the gate up with zip ties.

"cmon." rick whispered, running towards a guard tower. faye ran alongside everyone else, her brown boots scuffling the gravel beneath her.

they reach the entry to the grass area, faye caught her breath as rick began to speak "it's perfect." rick began "if we can shut that gate. prevent more from filling the yard, we can pick off these walkers. we'll take the field by tonight." rick told them.

"but how are we gonna shut the gate?" hershel asked "i'll do it." glenn volunteered before being stopped by maggie. "no, it's a suicide run."

"i'm the fastest" he stated. "no, you, maggie and beth draw as many as you can over there." rick demanded pointing over a few feet from them.

"daryl, go back to the other tower. carol, you've become a pretty good shot. go with daryl." he patted carols back.

"hershel, you and carl take this tower" he pointed up to the tower they were stood by.

"faye, you help lori close and open this gate." he placed a hand on faye's back in which she gave him a nod.

"i'll run for the gate." he muttered under his breath, preparing himself.

lori gave rick a nod, before pulling the gate open alongside faye. the two watched as rick ran up the path, taking out any walker in his way.

one walker drew its attention to them, trying to reach through the gate to reach them. faye plunged her machete through its head through the gate. "ugly fuck." she mumbled. "watch your language." lori looked down at her.

once rick had shut the gate, he rushed into the nearby guard tower. "he did it!" faye beamed before pulling out her gun to take out more walkers.

finally every walker in the field was dead. the group reunited, heading towards rick, all with big grins plastered on their faces.

"we haven't had this much space since we left the farm!" carol exclaimed with joy.

that night, the group created a small campfire. daryl stood on watch, ontop of a car that laid sideways. faye often looked back at her dad, debating on joining him but the campfire was so warm and her dad probably wanted to be alone anyway.

"that's his third time around." hershel stated, turning everyone's attention to rick who'd been circling the field for an hour now.

"if there was any part of it compromised, he'd of found it by now." he said.

faye was fidgeting with some daisies she'd found in the field earlier, her tongue stuck out in concentration as she tried to make a daisy chain.

she was only broke out of her concentrated state when beth began to sing, she was confused why she'd break out into song in a time like this but didn't question it. her voice was beautiful and she'd rather listen to singing than the growls of the walkers.

daryl joined the group again, sitting beside his daughter who instantly rested her head against him.

"better all turn in." rick spoke once beth was finished. "i'll take watch over there. got a big day tomorrow."

"what do you mean?" glenn asked, his voice soft barely over a whisper.

"look, i know were all exhausted." his eyes meeting fayes, which were heavier than usual. "this was a great win. but we've gotta push just a little bit more."

"most the walkers are dressed as guards and prisoners. looks like this place fell pretty early. it could mean the supplies could still be intact." he told them.

faye listened intently to rick list off what the prison could contain, part of her feeling excited that this could be a new start.

everyone settled down around, in their sleeping bags or using them as pillows. faye layed down in her purple sleeping bag. her mind racing from todays events.

could this be the start of a new beginning?
