"is this how people felt when they saw jesus walk on water." faye crossed her arms watching hershel walk around the courtyard with his crutches.

"alright hershel!!!" glenn cheered from afar before being shushed by daryl.

"ready to race hershel?" carl grinned to himself "give me another day and i'll be ready to take you on." he sarcastically replied making the two kids chuckle.

the happy moment soon turned into a nightmare as loud growls erupted from behind them.

"walkers! watch out!" carl yelled pointing to the incoming walkers. t-dog, carol and maggie joined them in the court yard, attempting to take out as many as possible as beth helped hershel get back inside.

"lori! here!" maggie called out, opening a metal door for her, lori guided faye and carl over to her.

they headed towards the cell block, only to be blocked off my incoming walkers, maggie quickly guided them the other way.

fayes heart raced wildly in her chest. the adrenaline coursed through her veins causing her to run faster even when she ran out of breath.

the 4 aimlessly rushed around the halls, trying to find a safe place where walkers couldn't get to them.

as they turned the corner, lori leant against the wall letting out a small groan. "somethings not right." she winced."are you bit!" carl exclaimed.

"no,no,no." she reassured her son. "i think the baby's coming." her face filled with fear.

walkers began walking up the hallway, making faye panic even more "we can't stay here" she croaked out.

the 4 turned back, maggie and carl lead the way as faye helped lori walk. walkers began flooding in from the other side of the hallway, trapping them inside.

"in here!" carl called out as he opened a door, slamming it shut behind them.

"what are those alarms" lori groaned in agony. "lori let's lay you down." maggie suggested

"no the baby's coming now." she panted. fayes eyes widened at the reveal, her chest growing tight in fear.

"we have to get back to the cell block and have hershel help." carl stuttered. "no, we can't risk getting caught out there" maggie replied, gently rubbing loris back in an attempt to soothe her. "you're gonna need to give birth to this baby in here."

"great." lori muttered. "come on let's get your pants off" maggie told the woman.

"you're gonna need to help deliver your brother or sister. you up for it?" maggie turned her attention to carl.

faye watched in distress, feeling helpless. "i-i can go, lead the walkers away for you guys." she spoke up, grabbing her gun. "no faye you stay here!" lori demanded making faye sit back down

"i gotta push.. i gotta push." lori muttered standing back up, leaning against the wall letting out low screams of pain.

lori continued pushing, wincing in pain each time. "lori stop somethings wrong!" maggie exclaimed as lori let out a piercing scream.

maggie and faye layed lori back down on the ground, her face was full of pain and exhaustion.

"mom.. mom look at me, keep your eyes open." carl held his mothers hand.

"i'm not gonna make it." lori mumbled, fayes heart sank at her words. this couldn't be it for her. she had to stay alive.

"lori, with all this blood i don't even think you're fully dilated yet. no amount of pushing is gonna help." maggie explained, placing her hands on the woman's knees.

"i know what it means. and i'm not loosing my baby." she admitted, taking shallow breaths. "you've gotta cut me open."

maggie refused for a moment, explaining how carol and her father only knew how to do that and she didn't even have the equipment to try. "please. carl has a knife." lori muttered.

"you won't survive." maggie said, trying to convince the woman this was a bad idea. "my baby has to survive. please.. my baby.. for all of us" lori spoke in between breaths.

fayes eyes drew away from lori over to carl, who was watching his mother in tears. part of her wanted to go over to him, wrap her arms around him and tell him everything was gonna be okay but she wasn't sure if everything would be okay.

lori pleaded with maggie to do it, the sound breaking fayes heart.

"carl." lori called her son over, interlocking their hands. "baby, i don't want you to be scared okay? this is what i want. this is right." she looked up at her son.

"now you.. take care of your daddy for me, alright? and your little brother or sister, you take care.." she brought her hand up to his cheek, rubbing her thumb across it slightly. "you don't have to do this." carl sobbed.

"you are gonna be fine. and you are gonna beat this world, i know you will. you are smart and you are strong and you are so brave. and i love you."

"i love you too." carl sniffed.

"you gotta do what's right baby. you promise me you'll always do what's right. it's so easy to do the wrong thing in this world. so if it feels wrong don't do it, all right? if it feels easy don't do it, don't let the world spoil you." she cried as she spoke to her son for the last time.

"you're so good. you're my sweet boy. the best thing i ever did." her voice cracked as she wiped his tears.

faye sat on the opposite side of carl, next to lori. her sobs quiet as she listened to lori say her last words to carl. she turned her attention to faye, wiping her tears with her thumb. "don't cry, bug." she whispered.

"you promise me you'll look after carl and the baby?" she held the girls hand. "i promise." she nodded rubbing her thumb over the woman's hand.

carl fell into loris embrace for the last time, sobbing into her shoulder. lori whispered what it seemed 100 "i love yous" into carls ear before pulling away.

"maggie after this you're gonna have to do it it can't be rick." lori instructed maggie.

carls shakey hands handed maggie the knife. "goodnight, love." lori whispered before slit open loris stomach.

lori let out shrieks of pain, faye felt loris hand tighten around hers in pain.

"carl, give me your hands." maggie demanded. "you should keep the site clean okay? i cut too deep, im gonna cut the baby."

after a moment, maggie pulled the baby out. the room was silent. the baby wasn't crying. panic set in as maggie gently patted the baby's back soon feeling slight relief as it began to cry.

carl handed his vest-jacket to maggie to wrap the baby in. she swaddled the baby as she stood up.

"we have to go." she mumbled. "well we can't just leave her here. she'll turn."faye replied.

carl looked at lori, then at maggie. "she's my mom." he stated. maggie walked away slightly, behind a wall to avoid watching.

a gunshot being the only noise she could hear over judith's cries. faye placed a comforting hand on carls back as he slowly walked away from his mom.

the 3, now 4 again slowly made their way to the courtyard. faye lead the way, peering around every corner before letting them follow.

they got outside, their eyes meeting daryl, rick, glenn beth, prisoners and hershel. the door squeaked making ricks head zoom around.

maggie held back sobs as she slowly approached rick, holding the baby close to her chest.

faye wasted no time running up to her dad, wrapping her arms around him letting out quiet sobs. daryl immediately dropped his crossbow holding his daughter in his embrace.

rick sobbed loudly at the realisation that lori wasn't coming out, she wasn't coming back. ever.
