Funny You Should Say That...

***Khai's POV***

I squint my eyes, trying to make out the figure that Tyrone knew was there way before I did.

It's a person, that I know.

Because the moon is only at 30 percent of it's illumination, it's quite dark, and I can only make out the shape and no further details.

It moves towards us, and I debate physically clinging to Tyrone.

Not that I don't feel protective of him. I'm just no good at fighting. I want to stand in front of him and tell him to stay safely behind me, but if I did that in my current situation... we'd probably both die.

Tyrone seems flighty, like he could be up and out of here before I can blink. I don't think he'd leave me, though.

Well... I hope not.

Only when the figure is a few feet away can I finally make out the details. Thankfully, he looks friendly.

There's a bright smile on his pale face, and his dark eyes seem gentle. He has platinum blond hair, it's seems.

I'm not sure of anything until I can see him in lighter conditions.

"Hey." He greets, stopping beside us.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Tyrone asks, defensive.

"I'm Zevon Kastelai. I live around here and I just heard you guys talking, so I came over."

"Never seen you before. And we weren't talking that loud." Tyrone says suspiciously.

"I... don't get out much. And I was close by." He replies, then decides to invite himself to sit with us. "Who are you guys?"

"I'm Khai Lunar." I greet him excitedly while Tyrone just side-eyes him.

Zevon looks over to Tyrone when he doesn't say anything.

"And you?" He prompts.

Tyrone glances to me instead, his face unsure. I nod subtly and smile, but I suddenly remember what it was like when we first met.

"Oh, he only gives his name to people who he thinks are worthy to know." I inform Zevon. "If you really want to know, you have to learn it from someone else." I chuckle but Tyrone seems unfazed by my impression of him.

I clear my throat.

"I guess in this case, that person is me. This is Tyrone." I introduce.

"Nice to meet you both. Do you live around here?"

"Yeah, that's my house." I say, pointing behind me.

"Khai-" Tyrone whisper-yells, an incredulous look on his face. I look back at him blankly, wondering why he seems so uptight.

"Oh nice. Do you guys go to Blue Moon?" Zevon asks.

"The school?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah, we do. Where do you go to school?" I ask, though I randomly wonder when I was suddenly able to keep up a conversation.

"I've only been home-schooled so far." He starts.

"It's all starting to make sense." Tyrone interrupts, and I open my mouth, surprised at how blunt he is sometimes. I'd almost forgotten this side of him.

I try not to laugh, though it doesn't really matter because Zevon is laughing already anyways.

"I'm going to Blue Moon sometime in the near future. I was hoping I'd run into some people who go there ahead of time so it'd be a little easier to fit in."
