"Everything will be okay in the end. if it's not okay, it's not the end."

Author's Pov:

You woke up early today, a restless night having stolen your peace as you dwelled on thoughts of that old lady—the one from down the street—and the mysterious man who turned your life upside down. It was already 10 in the morning, but your mind was still entrenched in the chaos of the previous day. You felt a mix of anticipation and dread at what she might reveal to the police.

You were preparing breakfast, trying to shake off the fog of unease that had settled in your mind

You were preparing breakfast, trying to shake off the fog of unease that had settled in your mind. Just as you cracked an egg into the sizzling pan, you heard a loud banging on your door.

Your brows furrowed in confusion, the sudden noise breaking through your thoughts. You switched off the stove, the smell of cooking food filling the air, and you walked cautiously towards the main door. Each bang grew louder, more urgent, echoing in your chest and heightening your anxiety.

Y/n: Who is it!?

Man: Open the damn door, you witch!

Came the reply, filled with rage. Peeking through the peephole, you recognized him instantly—it was the old lady's son, a menacing figure whose anger radiated off of him. Beside him, a woman you assumed to be his wife was frantically waving her arms, her face twisted in disbelief. But why were they here? What could you possibly have done to warrant such a visit? A sense of unease washed over you. What could they possibly want?

Curiosity warred with caution, but before you could think twice, you hesitated only a moment longer before opening the door. The moment the door creaked open, the man lunged forward, his hand seizing your neck with a painful grip, cutting off your breath.

Man: You bi*h! You've done this to her!

He shouted, his eyes wild with fury. You gasped, hands instinctively flying up to claw at his relentless grip. Panic surged through you, and you fought for air, your vision blurring around the edges.

With a surge of strength, you lashed out, hitting him hard in the elbow with your fist. He released his grip just enough for you to gasp in a breath, and your instinct kicked in. You shoved him hard with your shoulder, sending him staggering back onto the porch.
