"They've promised that dreams can come true but forgot to mention that nightmares are dreams, too."

Author's Pov:

After the medics worked tirelessly to stabilize you, the exhaustion from the pain, blood loss, and overwhelming emotions overtook you, and you slipped into a deep sleep. Once the doctor stepped out of the room, Taehyung quickly approached him, his voice low but heavy with tension.

Taehyung: How is she? Will she be okay?

The doctor removed his gloves, his expression calm but serious as he addressed the anxious man before him.

Doctor: The bullet didn't hit any major organs, which is fortunate. However, she lost a significant amount of blood. The transfusion helped stabilize her, but she'll need rest and monitoring for the next few days. Physically, she'll recover soon.

Taehyung nodded, his jaw clenching. Relief coursed through him at the doctor's words, but it didn't erase the guilt he felt for putting you in harm's way.

Taehyung: Can I stay with her?

Doctor: (smile) Of course. She needs to be surrounded by calm and familiar faces when she wakes up. But, King... you should rest too. You can't help her if you collapse from exhaustion.

Taehyung dismissed the suggestion with a wave of his hand, his focus entirely on you.

Taehyung: Thank you, Doctor.

As the doctor left, Taehyung stepped into the room, his gaze falling on your sleeping form. You looked so fragile, so different from the fiery, determined person he knew. He pulled up a chair beside your bed, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his hands clasped.

Taehyung: You're stronger than this, Y/n. I know you are.

The soft rhythm of your breathing was the only sound in the room. Taehyung leaned back, his exhaustion catching up with him as he rested his head against the chair, but he refused to close his eyes. He wouldn't leave your side.

Hours passed, and the quiet of the room was interrupted only by the steady beeping of the monitor tracking your heartbeat. Taehyung hadn't moved from his spot, his eyes fixed on you. Every rise and fall of your chest reassured him, though it didn't stop the storm of emotions raging inside him.

He thought about everything—the danger you'd faced, the pain you endured, and the moments he almost lost you. The memory of seeing you hurt, replayed in his mind like a cruel punishment. A soft knock on the door broke his thoughts, and one of his guards entered quietly.

Guard: King, we've secured the area, and the immediate threat has been neutralized. You can relax now.

Taehyung barely glanced at the man, his focus still on you.

Taehyung: Thank you. Keep it that way. No one enters without my permission.

The guard nodded, understanding the weight in Taehyung's tone, and left as quietly as he'd arrived. Taehyung let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair. He reached out, taking your hand gently in his, his thumb brushing against your knuckles.
