"it's hard to turn the page when you know someone won't be in the next chapter but the story must go on."

Author's Pov:

Your mind was clouded with memories of Taehyung. He looked so happy, sitting there with his family. He had moved on, and you told yourself you had too. So why was he invading your thoughts? Why did your heart ache at the sight of him smiling with someone else?

The whole day felt like a blur. Your hands moved automatically through your tasks, but your mind was elsewhere. You kept zoning out, unable to concentrate on even the simplest things.

You were setting a bouquet of fresh lilies in the vase on the counter when Lia approached, her voice breaking through your thoughts.

Lia: Hey, Y/N, do you remember the man from yesterday?

Y/N: Who?

You asked absentmindedly, still adjusting the flowers.

Lia: The VIP who booked the entire restaurant!

That caught your attention. You turned to look at her, your brow furrowing.

Y/n: What about him?

Lia glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, then leaned in and whispered dramatically.

Lia: He's a Mafia King.

You couldn't help but let out a small, humorless sigh. Of course, she'd bring that up.

Y/n: I know.

You replied quietly, focusing back on the flowers. Lia's eyes widened in shock.

Lia: Wait, you knew? Aren't you surprised? You're acting so casual about it!

You shrugged, trying to hide your unease.

Y/n: Why should I be? It's not like it's the first time I've heard about someone like him.

Lia: Geez, you're no fun. You're behaving like you've known him for years or something.

The words hit closer to home than she could've realized, and you stiffened for a moment before forcing a small laugh.
