Definition of Birthday: "The only day in your life... Your Mother smiled when you cried."

You and Taehyung settled into the car, the atmosphere was heavy yet filled with a quiet kind of warmth. The hum of the engine was the only sound for a while, aside from the occasional sound of your breathing.
The city lights flickered through the window, painting fleeting golden reflections over Taehyung's face as he drove, his grip on the steering wheel firm yet relaxed. His other hand, however, was wrapped around yours, resting gently on your lap, his thumb gently tracing patterns against your skin. His touch was warm, steady—yet you could feel the slight tremor in his fingers.
Neither of you spoke at first, letting the weight of what had just happened sink in. You glanced down at the ring on your finger, the diamond catching the glow of the passing streetlights. It felt surreal. You had said yes. You had agreed to marry him. And now, there was no turning back.
Your heart was still beating faster than usual. The weight of his words, the emotions behind them, still lingered in your mind. You glanced at him, watching the way his jaw clenched and relaxed, as if he was debating whether to say something. His brows were furrowed, deep in thought.
Y/n: Are you okay?
You finally broke the silence, your voice barely above a whisper. He took a slow breath before nodding. You knew it must have hurted him when at first you rejected him, you knew he was holding back his emotions, keeping them under control, not wanting to bring those moments back.
Taehyung was always like that. He never forced you, never demanded anything from you. But that didn't mean it didn't hurt him. The silence stretched between you, thick and unspoken. You opened your mouth to say something, anything—but the words wouldn't come. It was Taehyung who finally broke the silence.
Taehyung: Are you cold?
His voice was gentle, laced with concern as he reached for the air conditioning knob. You shook your head.
Y/n: No... I'm fine.
He nodded, his eyes never leaving the road. Another stretch of silence, this time more comfortable. The soft sound of music played from the car's speakers, blending with the rhythm of the city passing by. You turned to look at him again. The man who had done everything for you. The man who had never given up on you, no matter how many times you pushed him away.
Y/n: Did it hurt?
You finally asked. He frowned slightly, confused.
Taehyung: What?
Y/n: Hearing me hesitate. Hearing me say I wasn't ready.
Taehyung let out a soft chuckle, but there was no humor in it. His grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly.
