Tristan's voice crackled over the mouthpiece as he reported, "Rosales is dead." He cautiously scanned the area, searching for any signs of hidden enemies, before returning to where Kayden sat, cradling the girl in his arms.
Carl and Keith both asked, "Where's Kayden?"
Tristan replied, "He's here with me. The civilian woman earlier took the bullet that was aimed for Mr. Hayes and is now bleeding."
"What?" Both of them answered in unison, their voices filled with concern and confusion.
"We're going there, call an ambulance!" exclaimed Carl urgently as he briskly made his way towards the location where Kayden and Tristan were.
"W-who are you? Why did you-" Kayden didn't finish what he was saying when the girl in his hands smiled. Her smile seemed eerily familiar to him, as if he had seen it before.
His voice trembled as he uttered, "N-no! It can't be!" His hand shook as he peered down at the young girl in his grasp, only to find it smeared with an unsettling amount of blood.
"I'm so relieved to see that you're safe," the girl whispered weakly, her voice barely audible above the chaos surrounding them. Her eyes were filled with a mixture of fear and relief as she struggled to speak. "I had been consumed by worry ever since I read in the novel that you would die here." Every moment had been filled with dread, and she had prayed fervently for his safety. Her prayers had been answered, but as she spoke, her voice grew fainter, and her eyes began to close as she struggled against the overwhelming loss of blood.
"A-Andy?" Kayden murmured under his breath, scarcely daring to believe his eyes. Could it really be her? Had she returned for him? But why was she in his arms, barely breathing and covered in blood? All that happened became blurry to him because of this scene in front of him.
"Yes, it's me. Andy Lopez," the girl weakly uttered before finally losing consciousness, a bittersweet smile playing on her lips.
"N-No!!!!" Kayden's voice cracked as he clung to her, his heart breaking at the sight. For the first time, Tristan saw Kayden, usually so stoic, overcome with emotion. Tears streamed down his face, blurring his vision as he held Andy close, oblivious to the arrival of Carl and the others who rushed over with the ambulance.
Carl quickly instructed the ambulance staff on Kayden's precise location. Together, they carefully and gently pried Andy from Kayden's arms in order to administer the necessary first aid. Though Kayden was hesitant to release Andy, both Carl and Keith gently insisted, recognizing the urgency of the situation.
"It's okay, they'll take good care of her," Carl reassured Kayden, offering comfort in the midst of the chaos. "I don't know who she is, but I'm grateful that she saved you," he added.
"She came back, Carl," Kayden whispered weakly. It was an uncommon sight for Carl to see Kayden in such a state, but he refrained from prying further.
"I never thought that I would see her again," Kayden said with a mix of relief and disbelief. He stood up and without a second thought, he followed the ambulance carrying Andy, completely ignoring Carl and the others. All he could think about was being by Andy's side and making sure she was safe.
Upon their arrival at the hospital, Andy was swiftly taken to the emergency room due to the significant amount of blood she had lost. Kayden anxiously waited outside the emergency room, his thoughts consumed by concern for Andy's well-being. After what felt like an eternity, one of the doctors emerged. Kayden rose from the waiting bench and approached the doctor with a mix of fear and hope in his voice. "Is she going to be okay?" he asked, his voice trembling with worry and the fear of losing Andy once again.
"I'm sorry to inform you that while she's stable, we are in urgent need of a blood donor for her due to the significant blood loss she has experienced. The issue is that she has a rare blood type, AB negative. It's quite uncommon, with only 1% of our donors having this blood type. Unfortunately, we don't have any stock of this blood type available at the hospital at the moment, so finding a donor is critical."
"I'm A positive, can't you make it useful?" Kayden said urgently, his voice tinged with desperation as he realized that Andy's life was hanging in the balance.
"I'm sorry, but that won't do," the doctor replied, his voice tinged with regret.
Feeling helpless, Kayden sank down onto the cold linoleum floor, unsure of what his next move would be. It was then that a nurse hurried into the room, clutching a stack of patient files. She informed them that there were potential candidates who could donate blood to help Andy.
As she scanned through the files, the nurse's finger paused on the name "Jane Scott." Kayden's heart skipped a beat as he realized the significance of that name.
"Jane Scott," Kayden whispered to himself. Does this mean that Andy didn't come by somebody else's body? Does it mean that she'll die for real if not saved? If that's the case, he needs to save her at all costs!
As Kayden's heart raced with urgency, he exclaimed, "I'll call her. Please, you have to save Andy!" With a trembling hand, he swiftly reached for his phone, where he found Jane's number, still untouched.
The phone rang and with a click, Jane answered. "This is me, I need you!" Kayden's voice trembled with urgency as he pleaded with the woman on the other end of the line.
Jane was taken by surprise when she received a call from Kayden. His tone indicated that he was in a difficult situation, so she didn't hesitate to go to the place he directed her to, which turned out to be the hospital. As she arrived, she saw Kayden deep in conversation with a doctor.
Concerned, Jane immediately asked Kayden, "What's happened?"
"Andy has been shot," Kayden replied, his voice trembling with emotion. "She's lost a lot of blood, and I need your help to save her."
When Jane heard Andy's name, she was in disbelief. How could this have happened? Had Andy chosen to leave the life she had been given? But why? Despite her shock, Jane made the decision to respect Andy's wishes and offer her help.
"Please, do whatever you can. If it will help, take my blood," Jane said with determination.
