"Hey Carl," Keith called as he entered Carl's office.
"What's up? The preparation for the raid is almost finished," Carl replied, looking up from the files spread out on his desk, his reading glasses perched on his nose.
Keith rubbed the back of his head, debating on how to broach the topic of Jane. It had been on his mind since he saw her picture on Kayden's desktop, but he wasn't sure how to start the conversation.
"So, uhm..."
"What?" Carl stopped what he was doing, removed his glasses, and fixed his gaze on Keith.
"I was wondering if... if you know someone named Jane," Keith began, feeling a bit uneasy. He had been contemplating asking Carl about her, as he couldn't bring it up directly with Kayden.
Carl, momentarily distracted by his work, suddenly remembered Jane. The girl Kayden had been infatuated with.
"Miss Jane? Come to think of it, I haven't seen her in a while," Carl mused. It had indeed been some time since he had crossed paths with Jane.
"So, you do know her? Um, would you mind telling me what her relationship is with Kayden?" Keith asked, his hand subconsciously drifting to his nose, a habit he had when something was bothering him. He had been quite taken with Jane when he first met her.
"She's Kayden's girlfriend," Carl smirked, still perplexed by Kayden's decision to leave Eli for someone relatively new in his life. Yet, in a way, he was happy for the chance it had given him with Eli.
"W-what?" Keith was taken aback. So his suspicions were true after all. "But... what about Eli? Haven't they gotten back together?" His voice betrayed his shock.
"No, they haven't. Their relationship is in the past. Now, Kayden's world revolves around Miss Jane. Perhaps that explains why he hasn't been his usual self lately," Carl shrugged, feeling content that Kayden and Eli had parted on amicable terms.
Keith sat down, trying to process the information he had just received. Was this really how his first love story was going to end? He couldn't shake the feeling that he must have been cursed in his past life when it came to love.
Their conversation was interrupted as Kayden walked in, bringing with him an unspoken tension. He could sense that something was amiss.
"So, what's the elephant in the room? What about the preparations?" Kayden asked, trying to gauge the atmosphere. He seemed agitated, to say the least.
"Oh, no, we were just discussing Miss Jane. I haven't seen her around," Carl replied, puzzled by Kayden's mention of an elephant when their conversation had solely revolved around Jane. He noticed Kayden flinch at the sound of her name before quickly composing himself. "Is it just my imagination?" Carl wondered, a frown creasing his brow.
"Let me review the preparations," Kayden said, fidgeting with his tie, an unmistakable sign of discomfort. His movements were restless, betraying his unease.
"Well, it's not my imagination. Something is going on between them," Carl thought to himself as he observed Kayden's uneasy demeanor. There was a shrewd glint in his eyes as he tried to decipher the situation.
Keith, on the other hand, just shrugged the thought. If it's Kayden, then he will gladly give Jane. His expression was one of resignation, a sense of acceptance evident in his demeanor.
"Here, take this." Carl then handed some files to Kayden, breaking the tension momentarily. The air seemed to lighten as the task at hand took precedence.
Kayden then took the files and nodded in agreement. The files contained tactics and discussions that have been talked about within the meetings that Kayden didn't attend. His focus was unwavering as he delved into the content, a laser-sharp intensity evident in his expression.
"So what are your thoughts?" Asked Carl, the tension easing slightly as the trio delved into the discussion. His voice was firm, seeking Kayden's input on the preparations.
"All is good. Except... we don't need too much manpower in this area. I believe Tristan can take this single-handedly." Kayden replied, his voice resonating with certainty. He then sat down on the nearby study table and put his things down, his confidence unshaken.
"Keith, I know that something is bothering you but I don't want you to fail this raid mission. I might give it to you when the time comes." He added, his gaze shifting to Keith, a sense of understanding evident in his eyes. His tone was reassuring, a gesture of support and confidence in Keith.
"Yes, bro," Keith replied, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. His gratitude was palpable, a mix of relief and determination shining through.

A strange dream woke up Andy from her sleep. In her dream, Kayden was deliberately finding her and it caused him to die. Her breath was almost gone from gasping as she woke up. She was also beading sweat from it. The fear and confusion were etched on her face as she grappled with the aftermath of the dream.
"What... what was that about? K-Kayden died?" She immediately took the book that she was avoiding to read all this time and opened it. Her hands trembled slightly as she leafed through the pages, a sense of urgency gripping her.
She flipped every page, but nothing showed. There's nothing written on it. The strange thing is that even the past chapters that she read were now gone. A sense of bewilderment washed over her as she struggled to make sense of the inexplicable occurrence.
"What is happening? H-how did that happen?" She tried to calm down herself and exhaled, her voice wavering with a mix of fear and bewilderment. She then closed her eyes and once again opened it and looked at the book. But to no avail, it still has nothing. Her frustration was evident, a sense of helplessness washing over her.
