The pair walked through WCKD with a feeling of disguised unease. Viya's face was covered, so if she slipped up on her expressions she'd be fine. But Minho on the other hand wasn't as lucky. At first glance he looked dazed and tired, but the longer you looked at him the more apparent his flaws were.

The automatic doors opened, a long underground parking lot laid before Viya. She knew they'd see her on the camera exiting the building with a subject, there was no reason to bring Minho this way if she was a normal guard.

She had gone over this with Minho. Once they reached the parking lot they'd have to move fast, there was a good chance they'd be spotted, and they'd have to be ready.
She just hoped Minho could manage it.

She knew he was strong, he was like her in that way, but a stallion is never the same once it's broken.

The parking lot smelt of gasoline and years of built up grime. Compared to the cleanliness of the inside of the building, Viya's nose involuntarily crinkled. How did these city folk view the outside? If they ever stepped outside their walls would they look down on the street rats in their red bottom heels and freshly ironed blazers?

Viya led Minho around the back of a bus, she hoped to use the vehicles as a shield, though her confidence in her plan was not high.

She could see the ramp up ahead that no doubt led to the streets. She had debated on stealing a car, but that would just draw more attention to them.

The overhead garage door opened once they got close enough, the blinding daylight entered the garage in streaks or yellow and orange.

She had barely taken one step up the ramp when a voice came from behind her.

"Where the hell are you going?" A man yelled sarcastically. It was only when Viya began to run that he realized it was no joke.

Viya ran up the ramp, Minho under her arm. She stumbled forwards slightly as she was thrown into the busy city streets. She was used to seeing it barren and empty, she had tried to imagine the life of a city, but her expectations were surpassed greatly.

She looked around in a daze. Where was the tunnel again?
She heard the men behind her. In an instant she picked the direction that felt the most right. She ran down the sidewalk, she darted into alleyways and weaved through buildings in an attempt to confuse her pursuers. She knew there were some travelling on foot, but she had no idea if they had trucks.

She glanced at street signs for the train station as she ran, Minho seemed to have no other thoughts other than 'run'. A part of Viya appreciated it, another part of her wished he would react and not be a mannequin.

She drifted as she ran through the automatic doors of the train station, she could no longer hear the guards behind her but she didn't dare to look back. She pushed open the cold metal door of the storage room and quickly shoved a heavy box in front of it.

She didn't take a second to catch her breath before she pulled out her bag from under the shelf and ripped off her mask. She quickly checked to see if everything was still in the bag.

"Turn around." Viya said as she was already pulling her shirt off.

Minho's face flushed as he turned around. "How do we get out of the city?" He asked, "I doubt we can catch a train out of here." He joked.

Viya moved a few boxes to reveal the hatch of the tunnel.

"Oh. That makes sense." Minho said.

Viya took a deep breath, "Alright, it's a cakewalk from here, but she should keep moving, I don't know if they have your tracker activated or not."
"Tracker? What do you mean by a tracker?"
"I'll explain on the way." Viya said as she pulled open the hatch.
