The sound of the shell rang through the air. It scared flocks of birds as they took to the skies and hid away in other nearby trees.

For a moment, neither Nettle nor Willow reacted or even dared to move.
That was until Nettle decided to suddenly lunge towards Willow the tip of the spear aimed straight towards her skull.

Willow ducked and rolled out of the way.
It seemed like Nettle had forgotten that to win you just needed to pin the other, not kill them.

Nettle twirled the spear in her hand, repositioning it back into an offensive position.
She then swung again, this time aiming for Willow's arm which she unluckily managed to cut with the serrated bits of the spearhead.

A small but fluid trail of red trickled down Willow's pale scales, creating a prominent contrast.

Nettle shot Willow a smug look.
"What's the matter? Too scared to attack me?"

Willow smirked
"Nah, it's just that if I was to attack you, this fight would be over in an instant, can't let it be boring you know?"

Nettle growled.
"Oh, you're asking for it now!"
She sprinted towards Willow once again as she jammed the head of the spear into the ground.
Nettle then leapt off the ground, holding on to the spear as she swung around and kicked Willow in the face.

It once again drew blood but it wasn't anything serious, in fact, Willow barely felt it at all.

Nettle swung back behind the spear as she dislodged it.
The spear was still in perfect condition which meant that despite its skinny appearance, the wood was very dense and sturdy making it difficult to break.

Nettle took a few deep breaths in, continuing to trash talk Willow who at this point wasn't really paying attention to anything.

"Look at you! You're not even attacking me!" She spat. "All this talk about you changing and what? Nothing to show for it?"

Willow shot her an unamused and nonchalant look but didn't say anything.

Nettle scowled slightly but soon smiled as she said something that really struck Willow's nerves.
"You know... You shouldn't have said yes to her, to Sundew's proposal." She said. "She's nothing but a hothead who can't control herself, she has no sweet side and she's overall a horrible mate."

Willow fell silent, she gripped her Tomahawk tighter and bared her teeth.
Nettle continued to talk.

"I don't know how you even fell in love with her, granted, you did save my horrendous brother from an arranged marriage but still, you can't even have dragonets with her! She's useless as a mate!" Nettle said.

Also, whoever taught you your so-called 'fighting skills' clearly didn't do a good job seeing as you can't even attack properly... I wouldn't be surprised if your friends were all weak-hearted like that Silkwing and Hivewing that you seem to care about."

"Nettle..." Willow growled, but she didn't hear her.

"Face it Willow, you didn't change, you may have learned a few tricks for light defence but you're still the small innocent dragon we all know, you'd be dead meat in a real fight, you're proving it right now!"

Willow stared at Nettle darkly.
She didn't say anything which caused a tense silence within the arena.

Soon, Willow lodged her Tomahawk into the ground which caught the attention of everyone in the bleachers.
