Daniel was outside in the forest.
The sun was shining well up above the trees and down directly through the leaves. The next rounds of the tournaments were set to begin in an hour which left everyone with a break to stretch and relax for a bit.
Currently, Daniel was sitting alone in a patch of grass not too far off from the stadium since he'd have to go back later.
He needed a break.
Not that he was tired or anything, more like he just wanted a small bit of time to himself away from all the chaos and drama which has recently been active.A breather amidst it all felt good, and Daniel was happy.
At least that was until he heard a flap of wings and talons hitting the ground, interrupting his peaceful moment.Daniel turned around with a slight scowl which deepened when he saw who it was.
A certain female Icewing stared down at him sadly."Dani-" She started but couldn't finish her sentence.
"Shut it" Daniel spat.
"Why the hell are you here?"Charlotte ignored his remark and simply sat down beside him.
"You know... I missed you, brother"Daniel rolled his eyes.
"Right... I'm SURE you did, especially since you paid SO MUCH attention to me"Charlotte was about to say something but instead looked down regretfully.
Daniel kept speaking.
"You don't care about me, you never even bothered to notice me..." he sniffled a little.
"At least not until Mom and Dad went on their business trip and you were FORCED to!"Charlotte dipped her head down regretfully.
She tried to muster up some words but nothing came out except some loose tears.Daniel noticed this but didn't say anything.
He only looked away, trying to conceal his forming tears.Charlotte looked back at Daniel who was now facing away from her.
"Danny... I'm... I'm sorry"Daniel's eyes went wide.
He turned around to see Charlotte beginning to sob.For the first time in his life, Daniel was seeing his sister not as the cold and mean person she was but as a broken soul who realised they'd made too many mistakes.
"I-I messed up! I neglected you...! I should have been there when you needed me!" Charlotte sobbed as more and more tears watered the grass below.
Daniel watched his sister break down in front of him.
For some reason, it pained to see her like this, despite everything. He was conflicted, on one side of things Charlotte was horrible to him to some extent, and she didn't deserve to be forgiven.
But on the other hand, she was still his sister.
'And the only family have left...Daniel pondered.
A part of him didn't want anything to do with her... Yet a part of him longed for some sort of family connection after being separated for so long."I'm... I'm so... So sorry..." Charlotte said, her words nothing more than a sad whisper.
Daniel stood up and looked down at Charlotte who was clutching the ground tightly.
She didn't look up at him, at least not immediately.A few moments passed.
Apart from the constant sobs and sniffles which came from Charlotte, the world was silent.Even the wind which was blowing a few leaves past made no noise at all.
The silence made Charlotte's cries that much more impactful. After Charlotte finally looked up with a regretful and watery face.
Small rivers of fallen tears ran down the side of her cheeks as a few cold droplets hung from the bottom of her snout.
