part 39 - Queen Red

Chloe pov:

Red was having a panic attack, so I calmed her down until she passed out. I gently got Red on the bed. I then sit back down beside her and look at the girls.

Chloe: she'll be fine.... just gotta keep her asleep....

Isa: What was that?

Chloe: I just used my mark to calm red down. We just got our marks the other day, actually.

Avery: But she's ok, right?

Chloe: Yes, just asleep.

I then rub my hand over Red arm, pressing my mark again to make sure she's still asleep. I want to finish asking my questions before she wakes up.

Chloe: ok, so I need more info.... we get divorced because when Red tried to apologize, I just turned her away?

Avery: No.... you divorced because Red became like her mother....

Isa: Well, that's what you said, but we only saw Grandma as a nice person.... we were very confused.

Avery: Yeah, you got so mad and disappointed in her because of something she did.

Chloe: What did she do?

I say, leaning over.

Isa: Um... she kinda beheaded grandma.

Red: WHAT?!

I look behind me, seeing Red awake. I see Red bounce off the bed and storming to Isa.

Red: Bridget's dead? And I'm the one who killed her?

The kids nod with scared looks in their faces.

Red pov:

These kids just told me that I beheaded my own mother!

Red: I would never do that! Why? Why? Why? Wh-

I kept stuttering pacing around again.

Isa: Well, when you became dictator, you were so angry as Chloe pushing you away that u kinda just went a little cray cray.

I'm still pacing around. Chloe is also trying to understand the situation.

Red: How do we even fix this?! Chloe, how!?

Chloe: um ok let me think.... we were sent here for a reason we do not know yet specifically. So we don't have a clear mission.... um... what if we go to Wonderland and talk to your future self?

Red: Yes, if anyone knows what happened, it's gonna be her. Let's go.

Chloe: Let's go tomorrow. Um, I don't think either os us is in the right head space to go there right now.

Red: ok.... we can go tomorrow, but what do we do in the mealtime?

Chloe gestures to the 2 girls.

Chloe: hang with our daughters??? If they see your future self as a dictator, maybe you right now can bond with them?

I took a second to think. I guess they do see me as a bad person. I swear I'm not.... I'm just so co fused and overwhelmed right now.

Red: ok, um, so what do you guys want to do?

Isa: Can you show us how to use the cards?

Red: oof sadly no. I have never touched those cards in my life. The only thing my mom gave me was her looking glass.

I took it out of my pocket.

Avery: ooh.

Red: Yeah, this is the only gift I got from her.
