Part 44 - Halloween Night

Chloe pov:

Soon, it'll be Halloween, one of my favorite days of the year. I get to dress up and play pretend. I haven't gotten a costume yet since I wanna get a couples costume with Red, but right now, it's Friday at lunchtime, so I need to wait til tomorrow to go shopping.

Chloe: So Red, what are you gonna dress up as for Halloween?

Red looks at me like I'm crazy.

Red: What?

Chloe: Halloween, you know the day you dress up as your favorite characters and eat candy.

Red: Chloe, did you forget how I was raised? Where am I from?

My jaw dropped to the floor. How could I forget... I sound so stupid right now.

Chloe: I'm so sorry, Red, I forgot....

I look down embarrassed, but she then lifts my chin up, making me face her.

Red: Don't be embarrassed. It's ok to forget... I just never heard of this Halloween before.... my mom never let us celebrate anything.... here, why don't you tell me all about it.

She smiles at me, which makes me smile. Even when I mess up, sometimes she tries her best to be understanding.

Chloe: Well, it's a holiday, mostly popular among kids, but teens also like to celebrate it a little. It's on October 31st. It's the day you put on a costume and eat treats and walk at night going from door to door, saying trick or treat.

Leah: Yeah, it's one of the more popular holidays there is. Last year, I went as clown.

Jack: I went as a giant pumpkin monster.

Mona: I went as a scientist.

Chloe: I went as fairy. But Red... this year, I was hoping you would maybe want to do a couple of costumes?

Red: Which is?

Chloe: Oh well, we can match or dress up as a famous couple.... I can help choose the costume. We can go shopping for our costumes tomorrow if you're up for it.

Red: Well, since I have never done this, I might as well try and see what it's all about.

For the rest of the day, I couldn't help but think of all the different customers we could go as. There are so many options.... i thought of so many at once. I barely remembered any of them. Soon enough, it was Saturday. I was so excited I practically dragged Red out of bed, ate food, and headed right to the Halloween store.

Red: So this is where all the costumes are made?

Chloe: they're not made here, but they are sold here.

Red: Oh wow.

Red walks past me, looking at all the decorations.

Watching Red look at everything like a little girl was so adorable.... it's sad she never got to experience this holiday before.... I'll make the best one. I want her to see the joys of it, I want to spoil her with everything I can offer. She deserves the world. I got caught up in my head. I lost her.

Chloe: Red? Where did u go?

Red: I'm over here.

I look around to see her waving by the costumes. I skipped right to her.

Red: These are so cool.... my mom would never let me wear this ever.

Her face lights up with joy seeing all the different costumes. I look around and see the couples section.

Chloe: Oh, the couples costumes are over there.

I grab her wrist, going to the other section. After looking at the options, Red found one she really liked. It was of Wednesday. I grab the Enid costume that was beside it.
