Ages - 32 and 19Sai should have returned from his mission days ago. My mind was wrecked in worry for the safety of my boyfriend.
I was barely convinced to go out tonight by my closest friends. Anko and Kurenai claimed I would have fun. That it would allow me to take my mind off of my younger boyfriend and his mission.
I had been with Sai for eight months now. He was 13 years younger get than me. And every part of our age gap was as fun as one could imagine. I was obsessed with him. He was so innocent and pure but eager to learn. I had watched him grow into the person he wanted to be and it was precisely what I wanted out of a partner in return. I could not imagine a better match.
Sai was caring and understanding. He had a lack of social cues that made me laugh. He was pure of intention but they didn't always land with everyone. But with me he could do no wrong. I saw his heart and tried my best to understand what he went through as a child. Sai was a diamond in the rough and was shaping himself into the most blinding beauty.
I absolutely loved my boyfriend. And I missed him dearly. A girls night was what I needed to get my mind off of him for a moment. I would always have the worry but at least for a couple hours it wouldn't be as pressuring.
I had lived the life as a jonin in the past. I knew the dangers Sai faced. But I had no doubt in his abilities. He would come back home safe to me. But I couldn't help from being protective over my young boyfriend. Sometimes he was blind to poor intentions and could easily be taken advantage of. That was my biggest worry for him. But I had to have faith that he has grown as an individual and could mange himself on his own.
Anko, Kurenai, and I walked into the crowed bar. It was a usual crowd for a Saturday night. We grabbed our drinks and headed to the table we preferred.
It was refreshing to have a laugh and get lost in the moment. Anko was bringing our fourth round of shots to the table but her body was obviously stiff.
"What is it?" I asked my friend in a laugh as I just finished laughing over a joke I made to Kurenai.
"Nothing." She tired to fluff off as she sent the drinks down in front of us. Kurenai quickly grabbed her drink and washed it down.
"You might want to slow down." I laughed at her as I sipped the shot of tequila.
"It's mommy's night out. Shikamaru is watching Mirai tonight. I'm going to take advantage of ever second he's worth." She laughed with a drunken slur. I shook my head at her as my attention shifted back to Anko.
"What has you so tense Ko?" I asked her.
"I don't know if it's my place to say." She looked uneasy.
"Ko you are my best friend if not you then who? Her?" I gestured to the drunkest one out of the three of us. Kurenai has had a hard time holding her liquor compared to us since becoming a mom.
Anko and I shared a laugh. "Definitely not her." Anko laughed harder. I finished my shot before addressing the subject again.
"Then what is it?" I asked her with begging eyes.
She let out a deep breath before taking her shot to stall the impending topic. "Anko." I scolded.
"It's Sai." She finally spit out.
"What?" I nearly fell from my bar stool. Worry immediately sobered me up. "What about Sai?"
"He is here." Her word barely hit my ears before my feet were in the ground.
"Where?" I asked her.
"At the bar." She looked ashamed as she told me. I started making my way there before she could stop me.
