Travis's POV
Monday Night
I leaned against the wooden fence, surveying the backyard filled with familiar faces and laughter. I was at a get-together that Pat and Brit had invited me to, and since we had just finished a bunch of training for the next season, it felt so good to wind down after the week.
The air was thick with the smell of grilled burgers, as Pat made his way over to me. "So, you liking it?" He asked me, leaning back against the fence beside me. "Liking what?" I replied, shrugging. "You know. The get-together. Life in general." Pat explained, waving his hands animatedly. "Pretty chill." I ran my hands through my hair. "Hey, I got someone for you to meet." He led me to the snack table, where a group of girls was huddled around one girl in the centre.
"I'll leave you there." Patrick made a run for it as he left me standing in front of the group of girls. I flipped him off before turning to go back to the fence. Suddenly, a burst of laughter caught my attention, slicing through the chatter. I turned, curious about what was so funny, and that's when I saw. The group of girls had parted, leaving the girl in the middle on full display. My jaw dropped.
It was the Taylor Swift. No fucking way. Why was she at Pat and Brit's party? Her laughter was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile as I watched her interact with those around her. There was something about the way she carried herself, effortlessly charming everyone, as well as looking like the kindest person in the room. She walked over to me, and I felt my heartbeat speed up. She looked like a fucking goddess, with her long blonde hair cascading in waves down her back. She was dressed in a simple black dress, with silver earrings and a necklace.
"You must be Travis Kelce?" Taylor asked me playfully. "I'm Taylor." She introduced herself. "Um yeah, I know." I managed to say, feeling like a deer in headlights. "So, what are you doing at this party? Aren't you on like, a world-famous tour right now?" I composed myself, finally meeting her eyes. Her smile widened as she giggled. "I'm actually on a break right now. I'm friends with a girl who just happens to know Britanny, so she invited me, and here I am! I'm actually so glad I get to meet you; I've heard quite a lot about you."
"Really? All good things I hope?" I joked, trying to keep my cool as my mind raced. "Yep! My family is a big Eagles fan, so they know a lot about your brother. You play for the Chief's right? Everyone's been talking about the amazing season you just finished." Taylor laughed, and I was struck by how genuine she seemed. God, she was so free, so easy to talk to, so oblivious to the fact that she was practically the most famous person in the world. "That's good to know. What about you? How's the tour going?" I chuckled nervously.
"You want to go sit down, and I'll tell you about it?" Taylor offered, leading the way to an unoccupied table in the corner of the backyard. I followed her, sitting down, ignoring the wink that Pat sent my way. "So, the tour's been a whirlwind, but I love it. There's nothing quite like performing," she said, her eyes sparkling with passion. "We're only like halfway through the American leg of the tour, but it's so much fun." I couldn't help but admire how alive she looked talking about what she loved.
I felt my confidence waver, overwhelmed by her energy. "I can only imagine. You must have some wild stories!"
"Oh, you have no idea! The swifties have been collecting all the mistakes I've made in my shows and renaming it 'The Errors Tour' and it's so stupid but so funny at the same time," she laughed, and my heart did a little flip. Her laughter was like music, and I couldn't help but lean in closer, wanting to soak up every moment.
As we continued to talk, I found myself hanging on her every word. There was a warmth about her that drew me in deeper, and I couldn't shake the feeling that this was more than just a chance encounter. Each time she smiled, it felt like the world around us faded away, leaving just the two of us in our little bubble.
