Taylor's POV
"Hey Taylor!" Jack greeted me as I arrived in the studio. "Hey!" I replied, my head faint. Jack frowned, studying me. "You good Taylor? You look a bit pale." He remarked. I nodded, sitting down. "Just haven't eaten or drunken much today." I explained. He looked at me, concerned. "You need your energy to sing. I'll grab you some food quickly." He insisted. "Okay." I didn't disagree, I needed the food like hell.
I had been so busy all morning, flying over from Kansas City, where I had just attended one of Travis's games. He tried to get me to stay and have some rest before I left, but I had argued, insisting that I needed to meet Jack in the studio the next day. So, Travis was flying over today, and we were planning to go out for lunch tomorrow.
Jack returned with a burger and a coffee for me, and I gladly took it. Sipping the coffee, I went over the lyrics I had written throughout the previous week. I took out my phone to show him the voice memos I had recorded of myself singing and worked on the backing instrumentals and improving the lyrics. Over the next few hours, we managed to get the bridge and chorus of three different songs for my new album.
----------
I wandered down the quiet street, extremely aware of my loud footsteps, and tried to quiet them. It was late when I had finished in the studio, and I just wanted some fresh air before I told my driver to come pick me up. I had managed to convince my security to stay inside, just wanting some time alone, a few minutes of air to feel like a normal person.
Suddenly, I heard a loud shuffle behind me, and I turn around, just to see nothing in the almost soupy darkness. I turned back around and kept walking, though unsettled. But I couldn't ignore the chills going down my back and I looked behind me, and a man sprung out of the shadows, holding a gun.
I shrieked, and he roughly placed his hand over my mouth, gagging me. I breathed heavily, trying to figure out how to get myself out of this mess, but the panic blinded me. I twisted in his strong grip but couldn't free myself. I could feel the fatigue of the day set in and I started tearing up, fighting against the man's arms.
He pointed the tip of the gun against my back, and I stiffened, the panic crashing over me like waves. I heard the bullet load, and I started sobbing, bracing myself for the pain that was sure to come. I didn't want to die. I struggled with the man's hand over my mouth, trying to bite him to yell for help. Finally, I managed to sink my teeth into his hand, and he cursed, freeing me.
I opened my mouth to call for help, but I was struck down by a loud gunshot, overwhelming my hearing and leaving an intense ringing in my ears. I tried to stifle my sob as the man ran away, leaving me in a symphony of pain, my chest screaming and the rest of my body answering with agony of their own.
The white-shot pain overcame me, and my hands roamed my chest, meeting warm, heavy blood. I could feel myself slipping away, white was clouding my vision. But I needed someone. My shaking hands scrambled for my phone, calling Travis. He picked up straight away.
"Travis."
"Princess?"
"Help me." I said, my voice ragged. Then everything went black.
Travis's POV
"Help me."
That was all I heard before Taylor went quiet, leaving the empty space between us. I stood up promptly, fear stabbing my heart. I was sitting in the airport, waiting for a driver to come pick me up. But I couldn't wait that long.
