Travis's POV

I sat back in the studio chair, Jason across from me, microphones in place, and the podcast equipment buzzing quietly. We were live. I knew this would be a solid episode, Jason and I always had chemistry when it came to this podcast, especially with the whole football talk mixed with whatever random stuff we threw in. But, today? My mind was a million miles away. More specifically, it was wrapped up in someone who was thousands of miles away.

Taylor.

We'd been texting all morning, and I'd felt that familiar warmth in my chest every time I saw her name pop up on my phone. I couldn't help it. She had that effect on me, always had, but now it was different. It was like we were always in this constant push and pull, whether we were together or apart.

I snuck a glance at my phone under the table. I knew Jason would probably call me out if I got caught texting during the show, but I couldn't help it.

Travis [3:14 PM]: How's the show going? I bet you're killing it as usual.

Taylor [3:14 PM]: I'm always killing it 😉

Travis [3:15 PM]: I'm sure you are. What's the crowd like tonight?

Taylor [3:16 PM]: They're wild. You would love it. Wish you were here with me.

Travis [3:17 PM]: Same here. Got me thinking about you more than I should while I'm doing this podcast.

I quickly hit send, and I felt a smile creep onto my face. I tried to focus on Jason's rambling about the latest football stats, but the buzz of the text conversation with Taylor kept distracting me.

Jason was mid-sentence when my phone buzzed again.

Taylor [3:18 PM]: Shouldn't be thinking about me while you're working... unless you're thinking about me in that way 😉

I chuckled and shook my head, glancing up to make sure Jason wasn't paying attention. He was leaning forward, completely engrossed in his talk about an upcoming game. I quickly typed back.

Travis [3:19 PM]: Can't help it. You've got my head in the clouds, babe.

I waited for her response, my legs shifting restlessly under the table.

Jason paused, noticing I was a little off. He raised an eyebrow, his voice lowering with a teasing grin. "You good over there, Trav? You're kinda zoning out, man. Usually, you're on fire for these talks."

I shot him a look and shrugged. "I'm good. Just thinking about some stuff."

"Uh-huh," he said, his lips curling into a knowing smile. "You've been texting someone, haven't you? You're all smiley and distracted."

I quickly grabbed the mic, trying to play it off. "It's just... you know. Something on my mind. No big deal."

Jason chuckled, clearly sensing what was going on. "You're not fooling anyone, man. Let me guess, it's Taylor?"

I gave him a sharp look, trying not to let my grin break through. "Why would it be Taylor?" I said casually, but the corner of my mouth twitched upward.

Jason raised both eyebrows. "Come on, Trav. I know the signs. It's like you're glowing. Only one person makes you act like that."

I sighed and tried to shift my focus back to the conversation. "Yeah, alright. You got me. But she's on tour, man. What can I do?"

Jason laughed, shaking his head. "Nothing. She's clearly got you wrapped around her finger. I don't know how you do it. I'd be so distracted if I was in your shoes."
