hi guys! this story is actually from my short n sweet book, which i just deleted. the book just didn't seem necessary anymore for me to have  🤍

Travis's POV

"Travis, keep your head in the game!"

I started, snapping my head up. Coach Reid was waving at me, trying to get my attention. "Sorry Coach!" I yelled, springing into action. "Kelce, can I talk to you?" Coach Reid asked me when I ran past him. I stopped in my tracks, walking back to him. "Sure. What's up?" I wiped the sweat off my brow. "Travis, are you okay? You seem distracted, your heart isn't in this right now. I can tell." He frowned, concerned.

The truth was, I missed Taylor so much. We hadn't seen each other for almost a month, and even our daily facetime calls at night couldn't stop me missing her. She had been so busy with the tour leg in Europe, sometimes we couldn't call at all. I missed her laugh, how she would giggle at all my jokes, even the stupid ones. I missed her soft, calming voice and her smile. The smile that always lit up my world every morning when I woke up with her next to me.

"It's nothing Coach, don't worry about me." I assured him. "Are you sure?" He double-checked. I nodded, and he waved me back to the field, where the boys were having a practice game. "Get over here Trav!" Patrick called me over. "You're on my team." He slapped me on the back.

Coach Reid kicked the ball off to us, and Patrick caught it, running towards our end zone. I shook my head, running slower than normal. Something was off. I looked longingly into the stands, wishing I would see Taylor up there, cheering me on and watching me train.

"Hey! Kelce! Focus!" Coach yelled. "Sorry Coach." I called back dispiritedly, running to catch up with the rest of the team. But it was too late, my team had already scored, all of them jumping together and shouting. Coach Reid came up behind me, placing his hand on my shoulder. "I'm going to send them home now. Get some rest son." He patted my shoulder before shouting to the others, dismissing them.

I got into the car, driving back to my house. When I arrived, the light inside was on. I frowned. I didn't leave it on did I? I cautiously opened the front door, poking my head inside. There was no-one there, but the dinner table was set with some delicious looking chicken tenders. I shook my head, disbelieving. There's only one person I know who loves chicken tenders as much as me. "Taylor?" I called, then waited, waited for some sign that she was here, in Kansas City.

"Travis!" She ran out of the living room and leaped into my arms. My heart burst as she whispered in my ear, "I missed you so, so much. You have no idea." I took her face in my hands, pressing her lips to mine. "I missed you more." I mumbled against her lips.

I broke away, still staring at her in awe. "How- why are you here? Don't you have a show today?" She shook her head, tears gathering in her eyes. "Hey, what's wrong baby? Did I say something wrong?" I pulled her even closer to me, unable to stand any distance between us. I rubbed her back comfortingly as she started to cry. "No...it's not you Travis. My Vienna shows got cancelled. Didn't you hear?" She gazed up at me with her tear-stained face.

I shook my head, kissing her forehead gently. I knew how much she hated cancelling, even postponing shows. "What happened?" I asked her running my fingers through her hair.

She took a deep breath before telling me. "A few days ago, we got word from the government that they found a planned terrorist attack on the stadium I was about to perform in. They were planning to attack the stadium during what would've been tonight's performance, and they were going to set off bombs and stuff to try and kill as many people as possible."

I blinked, trying to take it all in. "Woah. That's a lot. That's horrible." I took her hand, leading her to the couch. We sat down, and she rested her head in my lap, laying down. "They were probably aiming for me Trav." She finished up, tears in her eyes. "I could've died."

I rubbed small circles on her back, trying to calm her down. "At least they found out baby. It could've been so much worst if you did perform. If they didn't find out, we could've lost lives instead of shows." I murmured. She nodded. "You're right." We met each other's gaze and started to smile. "So... that got a bit depressing." Taylor started to giggle as I tickled her, trying to coax a laugh out of her.

She grabbed my face, pressing her lips to mine. God, I missed her kisses so much. Our lips move together, and her hand reached down to my belt, loosening it. I broke away. "Someone's eager." I chuckled. She rolled her eyes. "I haven't seen you for almost a month. My sex drive is up. Can't blame me." I laughed, picking her up. "What are you doing." She whined. "I'm not going to fuck you on the couch Taylor." I laughed, carrying her to the bedroom. "I love you." I whispered in her ear. She squeezed my hand three times back.

I. Love. You.
