Taylor's POV
There are very few things in life more dangerous than sitting across from Sabrina Carpenter at dinner when she's in a certain kind of mood.
And unfortunately for me, that mood has arrived.
The worst part? Travis has no idea. He's just sitting next to me, completely unbothered, working through his steak like he isn't about to become the center of one of Sabrina's little social experiments.
I, however, can feel it coming.
"So," she says, twirling her wine glass between her fingers. "How's... everything?"
I swallow. "Everything is fine."
"Good, good," she nods, taking a sip. "And by everything, I mean your relationship. Physically. Romantically. Acrobatically."
I nearly choke on my water. Travis, to my absolute horror, just grins.
"Can't complain," he says.
Sabrina hums. "I bet."
I shoot her a look. "We are not doing this."
"Oh, come on," she says. "I'm just making conversation." She turns to Travis, ignoring the daggers I'm mentally throwing at her. "I mean, we all know Taylor's been glowing lately. So obviously something's working."
I close my eyes. "Brina."
"What?" she asks, all innocent. "It's just interesting. You're a pretty big guy, Trav. And Tay-"
"She manages," Travis says.
Sabrina lets out a soft laugh, nodding. "That's cute." Then, after a pause, "But I don't believe you."
Travis smirks, cutting into his steak. "Why not?"
"Because I have eyes." She looks between us, her gaze sharp, assessing. "She barely knows what to do with herself when you put a hand on her knee in public. You're telling me she's perfectly normal when you-"
I drop my fork onto my plate. "We are not talking about this at dinner."
Sabrina shrugs. "Just saying. I would be dead. Clinically deceased."
I press my hands to my face, trying to keep the heat from creeping up my neck.
Travis, completely unbothered, leans back in his chair, resting an arm over mine. "She handles it well."
Sabrina exhales, shaking her head. "Yeah, I bet she handles it."
I groan. "Oh my God."
Travis chuckles, rubbing a hand up and down my arm. "You're getting all shy, babe."
"Because my best friend is analyzing our sex life like it's a case study," I mutter.
Sabrina sighs dramatically, placing a hand over her heart. "I just love love, Taylor."
Travis lifts a brow. "This doesn't feel like love talk."
Sabrina grins. "Okay, fine, I love information." She spears a piece of broccoli with her fork and pops it into her mouth. "But I'll be good. For now."
I let out a breath of relief, picking up my fork again.
For all of two minutes.
Then, in the most casual voice possible, she says, "So, how long does it take you guys to recover?"
Travis barks out a laugh. I drop my fork.
Sabrina, fork in hand, watches me squirm. "What? It's a fair question."
