Travis's POV
When you date someone like Taylor Swift, your life doesn't just change, it flips upside down and spins on its axis. I knew what I signed up for when we started dating. Privacy is a luxury for her, and by extension, for us.
For months, we kept everything quiet, which honestly was easier for me. It wasn't that I didn't want to tell anyone, hell, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. But I knew the second I told my friends or teammates, it would stop being ours.
But now, it felt like the right time. I wanted her to meet my people, Patrick, Ross, Brittany, the whole crew. They'd been in my corner for years, and if Taylor was going to be part of my life, she needed to know them.
Still, as I parked the truck outside Patrick's place, I felt my palms sweat a little. And it wasn't from the hot Kansas City sun.
"You're nervous," Taylor said, glancing at me from the passenger seat.
"Nah," I lied, gripping the steering wheel like it owed me money. "Just... ready to see their faces."
She tilted her head, her soft laugh making my chest tighten. "Travis Kelce. The two-time Super Bowl champ, nervous about introducing me to his friends?"
"They're not just friends," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "They're my brothers. Well, and Brittany. She's like my sister."
Taylor reached over, placing her hand on mine. "They'll be great. And if they're not, I'll just write a song about them."
That made me laugh, the tension in my shoulders loosening. Leave it to Taylor to turn my nerves into a joke.
The second we stepped out of the truck, the familiar sounds of a Chiefs backyard hangout hit me: music blasting, guys yelling over a game of cornhole, and the smell of burgers on the grill. Patrick's place was like a second home to most of the team.
As we walked toward the backyard, Taylor clung to my arm, her steps steady but her grip a little tight. She was nervous, too, but trying to play it cool.
"Kelce!" Patrick's voice boomed from somewhere near the grill. "About time you showed up, man. What, you stopped to sign autographs on the way?"
"Something like that," I called back, my hand instinctively moving to Taylor's lower back as we stepped through the gate.
Patrick turned, spatula in hand, ready to crack another joke, until his eyes landed on Taylor.
His jaw dropped. Literally dropped. "Wait. What the-"
"Surprise," I said casually, biting back a grin.
Patrick froze, his gaze bouncing between us like he couldn't compute what he was seeing. Behind him, Ross and Brittany turned, their reactions almost identical.
"No freaking way," Ross said, dropping the beer in his hand. "Is that-"
"Taylor Swift," Brittany finished for him, her voice high-pitched and breathless.
Taylor gave a little wave, her smile polite but a bit shy. "Hi."
Silence.
And then, chaos.
"Are you kidding me?!" Ross practically shouted, pointing at me like I'd committed a crime. "Kelce, you're dating Taylor Swift?!"
Brittany grabbed Taylor's hands like they were long-lost best friends. "Oh my god, I can't believe this! I'm your biggest fan. Ever. How-when-what is happening right now?!"
