"We'll be late for your first challenge!" Beatrix frowned from the doors, three satchels of books in hand. Sophie didn't move, glaring at Y/n and Agatha.
"Now you two want to stay?" she said, leerily, perched on one of the middle beds in her school uniform, a crystal diadem glittering on her head. "You said it was Evil to stay." Back turned, Y/n stared at the painting splashed across the wall, once a pink version of a dashing princes kissing their princesses– now a life-size mural of her kissing Sophie back to life in a starburst of blue light. I'm just seeing him. Not choosing him. I'm just... seeing him.

"What about Tedros?" Sophie lashed, remembering the Dean's warning. "What about seeing your prince?"
"I'm still standing by what I said, I won't choose," Y/n said, turning back to Sophie. It was the truth, she still wouldn't choose, she just never said she would still talk with Tedros. Y/n was now also in her uniform, which fit decently, but her veil kept falling down over her face.
Sophie exhaled, the Dean's echo trickling away. Like the School Master, the Dean couldn't fathom the strength of their friendship. Y/n would never leave for Tedros. Agatha wouldn't betray her and work with Tedros instead. They'd been through too much.

"You forgive us?" Agatha asked, surprised by Sophie's silence.
Sophie looked up, smiling to answer. But suddenly Sophie wasn't seeing Agatha anymore. Suddenly all Sophie saw was the girl who was taking away her princes. The girl who stabbed her in the back. The girl who ruined her happy ever after, where she and Y/n were alone.
An old fire of hate kindled inside.
Forgive her, Sophie thought, fighting it. For Y/n.
But her muscles were clenching... her fists curling...
The Good Forgive!
But now her heart swelled to a witch's rage–

With a gasp, Sophie flung off the bed and hugged both Agatha and Y/n, jostling her friend's tiara, and making Y/n's veil fall over her face again. "Oh, Aggie, Y/n, I forgive you! I forgive you for everything! I knew neither of you would ever go to him!"
Agatha and Y/n glanced at each other.
"What is this cursed thing?" Agatha murmured, diadem now somehow in her mouth.
"Duh. You Captain crown," Beatrix crabbed, foot tapping impatiently. "You were top Ever when you left, and Sophie was top Never."
"Well, we're on the same side now," Sophie beamed and gripped Agatha's hand. Agatha felt her palm sweat and let go to grab a satchel of books from Beatrix, Y/n did the same.

"Your rankings start over today though," Beatrix said. "If we ever get to your first challenge."
As Sophie followed Beatrix's bald head out, she glanced back at Y/n, who was frowning at the book spines in her satchel:
Men: The Savage Race
Happiness Without Boys
The Princess's Guide to Princelessness.
"Ready for school?" Sophie said, holding open the door.
"Sure," Y/n mumbled. "Still feel there are better things to be taught. Still can't learn how to use swords..."

Y/n looked back inside the room, seeing a bird on the windowsill. But as she looked closer, she saw it had familiar blue eyes. Y/n sneaked back inside when the others didn't notice, and locked the door. She ran for the window and opened it excitedly.
"Orion!" She said, her eyes misted, hugging the bird. "Oh, how much I have missed you!"
He cawed at her, cuddling his head to her. Then he held up his leg. Y/n looked down at it and saw a note tied to the raven's leg, tied with red ribbon. Y/n took the letter, its max marking made with the save raven symbol on the School for Boys. Y/n took a deep breath, then opened it. It contents read:

I'm a little sad you haven't come for me,
Dear princess, but I know you'll arrive,
Each lonely night grows darker as I plea,
You're the single ray of light that helps me survive.
