It's hard not to think of your fiance when you're just been controlling his family ship.
But if Y/n thought about Tedros, she also had to think of a Snake who wanted to take him down, and according to the fairy tale, might be out for her too... a snake who didn't yet have a name.
She would have written him a letter at this point. But she couldn't force herself to do so, not when most of their quest so far, he wasn't allowed to hear. And so, she sent Orion flying with a small note, just saying that she was okay, so he wouldn't think she was dead at least.

She could hear the crew crunching through snow– Sophie, Agatha, Hort, Nicola, Bogden, Willam, the coven– each armed with a weapon and following her dutifully even though Y/n didn't have a clue where she was going.
She'd been to Avalon Island before, but that was months ago, where her bird could guide her through the sky towards Agatha and Merlin, the latter one being the only one except Camelot's king that the Lady of the Lake opened her gates for. But now, Y/n had no bird to guide her, no Merlin to open those castle gates, and not even the slightest idea how to even find the castle, since last time she had been more focused on the corpse of zombie Hook escaping, and stopping Hort and Tedros from fighting, than to remember the route. Agatha was walking beside her, since she had walked together with Merlin and hoped she'd remember the route, but Agatha had also seemed to have forgotten.

Not that there was a route to find anymore. Powdery snow matted the desolate shrub-land and was still falling fast. There was no sun to guide them either, it's afternoon light trapped behind a wall of gray. Shivering in her cloak, Y/n shoved her hands in her pockets. Stupid me, she thought. She'd packed for summer even though her teacher Yuba had told them in Forest Groups that it was always winter in Avalon.

Y/n plodded ahead gloomily. First she'd almost drowned her crew and now she was freezing them to death.
Her quest was off to a rousing start.
Tedros was back on her wind again, once she started to wonder if Orion was doing okay in these weather conditions.
"This isn't your quest. It's mine," his voice echoed.
Maybe he'd been right. He was the one whose best friend was Lion in the Storian's tale. It hadn't even mentioned a Fox after all. Maybe it would have been best to stay out of it all.
So why am I here without him? Y/n thought.
Because he'd insisted that a king couldn't abandon his people. But that wasn't the whole truth of course. She wanted to prove herself. Because no matter how many times she tried, it seemed it was never taken seriously. Tedros never said it anymore, but she knew he was still thinking it. She was naive, she was just a girl who needed her prince to save her. But she wasn't, and she would prove it.
Little did she know that a Snake could be coming for them. That she might still just be a simple damsel in distress.

Y/n gritted her teeth. No matter what– or who– was ahead, she would save her prince.
This isn't right, said a voice inside her. No one can save Tedros but himself.
Y/n rolled her eyes. He had saved her multiple times, she could do the same.
This isn't about boys and girls, the voice said. This is about destiny. This is about the truth. You're only making hs problem worse by being insecure–
Y/n silenced the voice in her head.

She glanced over her shoulder at the Igraine, peeking behind the different cliff rock where they'd anchored a couple miles off. Instinct told her she was going the right way. She plowed forward, snow coating her lashes, her trusty dagger against her leg.
Sophie accosted her in a voluminous white fur coat. "At first I was thinking of a 'Nanook of the North' theme for your wedding, with faux tundra, penguin caterers, and Teddy in an ice-blue leotard and Aggie in a gray dress suit. Now not so much."
Agatha shook her head at Sophie to show now wasn't the time. But Y/n at least chuckled a bit, imagining tiny penguins in bow-ties.
