"So where exactly are we going?" Y/n asked, conjuring a bag for herself where she put Lepus, before connecting her arm with Hester's again.
"The only place in the Woods where we can be safe," Hester replied, her voice low.
"There is no safe place in the entire woods!" Agatha said. "Sophie, Tedros, and Y/n don't have their finger glows locked. Rhian will find us on his map. We need to find a teacher."
"Speaking of teachers," Hester said. "Where did Dovey go?"
Y/n stopped in her tracks, holding in the raw emotions. Hester stopped too, looking at Y/n, and then at the others. That's when she understood.
"She sacrificed herself?" Hester asked.
Y/n nodded, looking at the ground. "It was too late to save her..." She looked up again. She could see Hester looking back in the direction of Camelot. For once, the stoic and hard girl actually shed a few tears. "But that means we can't give up now, or her death will be in vain."
"Right," Hester said, quickly drying her tears. She took Y/n's arm again and dragged her along, making the others follow not far behind.
Hort shuddered, shirtless after he'd transformed into a manwolf earlier. "Okay but actually, where are we going?—"
"You all will just have to trust me, so please just shut up and stop asking where we're going," Hester snapped.
"And why should we listen to you, witch?" Tedros snapped right back.
"Because the one we should be listening to is Y/n," Hester said, looking at the h/c haired girl. "She's just spent valuable time with our enemy. So surely she has important intel. Intel we need to know."
"Always so clever, Hester," Sophie said, making a taunting face towards Tedros. "That's why you should always listen to witches. Because they know what they're talking about, unlike cocky little princes."
"Oh you little—"
"Hester, are you sure your coven doesn't have room for a fourth?" Y/n asked, looking back at the two blonds.
Sophie and Tedros both shut up after that.
"I don't know much," Y/n said. "I'm mostly just a pawn in their bigger plan, I think. But they need me to try and make Rhian become the One True King. I'm not sure why or even how you become such a thing, but they say a pen gave them a prophecy that they'd need me. Japeth says it will help him get Aric back from the dead--"
"Aric?!" Hester said, seeming to remember the boy quite well. The same boy she'd cut CREEP in the forehead.
"I remember Merlin said that Rhian went to the same school as Aric, does that also mean—"
"Yup, Japeth and Aric also know each other. Quite well, it seems. Japeth is in love with Aric, and he wants to bring him back from the dead by becoming the One True King," Y/n said. "And for some reason, my blood heals him." She showed her palms, both having big scars right through them.
"They took your blood?" Agatha said, that panic coming back as she gripped Y/n's hand, trying to inspect it. Agatha became quiet, but Y/n could tell she was spiraling on the inside.
"Agatha, calm down," She said, taking her own hand back. "I'm fine now, except for a few extra scars. Like I didn't have enough of those."
"Good thing that those scars make you so much prettier," Tedros said, trying to act playful and likely trying to appeal his way back after she made that Coven comment. Though as she looked into his eyes, she could already see the murder plans right from there.
Sophie looked at the scars on her hand for a while. "I'll kill that dirty psycho and I'll—"
"Yes, thank you Sophie," Y/n said, cutting the rant short. "I'm already quiet aware just what you'll all do if you ever get the opportunity."
"Oh you just know me so well," Sophie gushed.
Y/n chuckled and shook her head. That was definitely not supposed to be the out-take.
"I remember seeing Japeth take your blood," Hort said, shuddering as he thought back to the moment. "But, can Rhian do the same?"
"Doesn't seem like it," Y/n said.
"But they're twins," said Hester. "How can you heal one and not the other?"
"The more important question is what else they'll do with the Storian's power," Y/n said. "Last night, they made a bunch of the rulers burn their silver rings. Rhian said they needed to show him loyalty if he would protect them."
"That's how they become One True King," Agatha blanched. "By burning the rings. I heard so in one of Sader's books, back in the School Master's tower. Everyone has different theories on the Storian, about what the script on it says. But Sader says it means that Man and Human are in balance. But if the rings are burnt, the balance will be broken, and the one they burn the ring for will be the One True King, who will rule over all of the Woods and have just as much power as the Storian."
"But plenty of leaders still challenged Rhian," Y/n said, brightening. "Not everyone burned their rings."
"After what we just did on the battlefield, they probably did," Hester said.
