Chapter 104: Agatha's Army

(Was no chapter yesterday, I was still feeling a bit sick. But I won't stop because I failed to make a chapter one day. I'll still try my best to make a chapter every day. Making a 4000+ words chapter every day is unrealistic and i already knew that. i know it wouldn't be possible, I just want to create as much as I can)

The last day had been a hectic one for Agatha after she'd run away. She'd maken her way to Avalon, trying to bed the Lady of the Lake for help, but she got none, then she'd wandered around the closest kingdoms, trying to evade the wanted posters of her face and now the population of the entire Woods searching for her. She'd then visited Sherwood Forest instead, trying to ask Robin Hood for help, who had also refused. The only thing of note she'd found were letters between Lady Gremlaine and Arthur that she'd found in Tedros left behind bloody clothes. At least it turned out Maid Marian were classmates with Professor Anemone, and now she had a way to get to school.

But as Agatha straddled the spine of a stymph, her arms across her old Beautification professor, she tried to think of something that wasn't Y/n...

She was all Agatha could think off. She always thought she was a bit better than Tedros, or Sophie, or even Hort. Because she wasn't as insane for Y/n as they, in comparison she seemed normal. But never before had Agatha been separated from her girlfriend like this, and now, she felt like she could pull of her own skin if she was gone from Y/n too long, fearing the damage Y/n could take if she was away from Agatha too long. She felt truly insane.

She shook her head violently, trying to let Y/n stay in the back of her mind, to allow herself to actually think of something useful and helpful, so that she actually could rescue Y/n. She tried to see through the gaps in the canopy of branches as she flew high over the Endless Woods. Autumn was coming, leaves already loosing their green.

It must be six o'clock in the morning, she thought, since it was still too dark to see the forest floor, but the sky overhead was starting to simmers with tones of gold and red.
I wish I could have watched this view with Y/n, Agatha first thought. Wait, no, no,no,no, I can't, at least not on a stymph, what if Y/n would fall, or a dragon came, it would have been much safer on the ground. Though, there animals there, so it would be safest from the castle, of course—
Agatha shook her head again, scratching at her scalp.

A hand reached back holding a blue lolipop.
"Stole it just for you," said Professor Anemone. "It's illegal to take candy from Hansel's Haven, as you well know, but given the present circumstances, I think we all need a break from the rules."
Agatha lifted the lollipop from her teacher's hand into her mouth and tasted its familiar blueberry tartness. Her first year she'd gotten detention from Professor Anemone for stealing one of these lollipops of the candied classroom walls in Hansel's Haven 8alomng with marshmallows, a hunk of gingerbread, and two thick bricks of fudge). Back then, she'd been the worst student at the School for Good and Evil, only passing by thanks to Y/n. Now, three years later, she was returning to the school to lead it, to save Y/n.

"Do they know what happened?" Agatha asked, watching her teacher's lemon-yellow hair dance in the wind. "The new students, I mean."
"The Storian began its retelling of The Lion and the Snake before you, Y/n, and Sophie left on your quest. that's how we've stayed up-to-date on everything that's happened since Rhian took the throne."
"But can't we show the Storian's tale to the rest of the kingdoms?" Agatha asked, adjusting Dovey's bag on her arm, feeling Tedros' jacket that she'd taken from Robin's house cushioned around the crystal ball inside. "If we can make their rulers see that Rhian and the Snake are working together—"
"The Storian's tales reach other kingdoms only after The End is written, including your bookshop in Woods Beyond," said her teacher. "And even if we could bring the Kingdom Council to the School Master's tower, the Storian won't allow anyone to look backwards in a fairy tale while it is writing one. Nor should we involve the Kingdom Council until we have clearer proof of Rhian's plot, since their allegiance is to the new king. That said, Professor Manley had been monitoring the pen's movements and our first years have been briefed on the story thus far."
