(We're at chapter 100. Can you guys believe it? Cuz like, I can't. But to celebrate, and because it's October, I'll try to do something real special. Since I won't do any sort of inktober this year, instead I'll try to make a chapter every day for October. But with emphasis on try. I might not be able to, you never know what happens. But I'll try to get out as many chapters as I can as fast as I can. Wish me good luck you all!)

While the guards held her offstage, Y/n saw all of it. The Snake becoming the Lion's liege. Rhian's brother unmasked. Lionsmane declaring war on the Storian. The people of the Woods cheering on two frauds.
But Y/n's mind wasn't on King Rhian or his Snake-eyed twin. Her mind was on someone else... the most important person right now...

Agatha.

Even with Tedros and Sophie set to die, at least she knew where those two where. In the dungeons. Still alive. Still breathing. And as long as they stayed alive, there was some hope for how this all would end.
But Agatha, Agatha she had no idea where she was.
Last she'd seen, she saw Agatha run through the crowd as the guards ran after her. If she'd escaped, that was amazing. Agatha could get them help, she could regroup with people at school and try to come up with a plan.
But what if she isn't even alive?
Tears sprung to Y/n's eyes as she looked down to her diamond ring, strangely placed on her index finger instead of her ringfinger. Her other two rings, one from Tedros, one from Agatha, had already been snatched off her hand and taken away, like they never even existed.

How foolish it felt that just a few days ago, she was looking forward to a happy wedding and a happy ending. Or that just a few hours ago she was worried Tedros might leave her. Instead it turned out that she would be wedded, but not to any of her true loves, but to a monster in an angel's skin.
But Y/n still didn't understand why she said yes. How she said yes. Yes was never the answer she wanted to say. She was going to tell him now was not the time, they needed to get to know each other better first, that she had so much else at the moment.
So why was yes the answer that came out?
Did some part at the back of her mind force out a yes, scared to be left behind by Tedros? Surely not. But then why did she say yes? Maybe she'd never know... She didn't like to think back to the moment at least. It almost felt like an out-of-body experience. A bit like when Sophie had used her wizard's wish to make her kiss Sophie in their first year...

Y/n looked up to the clear sky outside. She would never be able to get a perfect ending, did she? Maybe the School Master cursed her, and she's forced to live in suffering and pain as those she loves die while she'd be forced to watch. She'd thought she'd found her perfect ending last year, when they'd slain the School Master. But how far that ending feels now.

Four guards grabbed Y/n's from behind and yanked her into the Blue tower, their bodies reeking of onions and cider and sweat beneath their armor, their filthy nails digging into her shoulder. Y/n pulled away from them, pulling up her finger threateningly and trying to light it. But all it did was flicker, she couldn't even manage to conjure the simplest of spells...
"I— I'm wearing the ring of the king," Y/n managed to get out, trying to change tactics as her magic had clearly been compromised. Now she knew why the ring was on her indexfinger... "So I demand you leave me to my own devices. Might I suggest you all take a bath?"

One of the guards doffed his helmet, revealing sunburnt Wesley, the young pirate who'd tormented her in Jaunt Jolie.
"King gave us orders to take yer to the Map Room. Don't trust yer to git there on yer own, case you run like that wench Agatha did," he sneered, flashing a squalid set of teeth. "So either we walk yer nicely like we were doin' or we git you there a little less nice."
The three other guards removed their helmets and Y/n came face-to-face with pirate Thiago, bloodred carvings around his eyes; a black boy with the name "Aran" tattooed in fire on his neck; and a supremely muscular girl with shorn dark hair, piercings in her cheeks, and a lecherous glare.
"Your choice, li'l witch," she said.
