Chapter 62: A Day in Evil School.

(Realized I accidentally gave the school master the wrong eyes the last few chapters, but I have edited it. Mixed up which of the brothers that had green eyes and which had blue, haha.)

"We should get you to Lady Lesso," Sophie said, shaking her head lightly and looking away from Edgar and Essa.
"Lady Lesso?" Y/n asked, feeling a little surprised. She knew Lady Lesso was Evil, but had she really also sided with the School Master?

Sophie never answered her, instead taking her hand and walking with her towards the School for New. The doors leading into school, which were once big blue and white doors, were now black and frosty, looking foreboding. Sophie flung open the doors, hearing them make a horrible creaking sound.
"Welcome back to School," Sophie said. "The School for New Evil. It's our school, together. That's what Rafal says."

Y/n looked around the old Good castle that she had felt so at home in, when she was a first year, when life was simpler. In the foyer, now a black marble instead of glass, boys and girls in crisp black uniforms and black barest marched by in perfect lines. Chins up, chest out, they stomped with seely stares, right-left, right-left, past the four glass staircases, now hued green. The boys were in belted leather breeches, half-sleeved black shirts with starched collars, narrow green ties, and thick-heeled boots, while the girls wore skin-hugging black pinafores over plunging green blouses, knee-high socks, and flat black slippers.

She stared at all the students, wide-eyed. Not only were Nevers now controlled and clean, now there was also Evers who wore black. She had heard some things about the school from Merlin, but she expected nothing like this.
"It's quite the sight, isn't it?" Sophie said, looking at Y/n's reaction. "Couldn't believe it myself when I saw it."

Y/n then noticed another haze of green light over the Legends Obelisk, centered between the four staircases, crammed with student portraits. Looking for the source, she scanned up the high stained glass windows (once haloed visions of a white swan, now replaced by a giant black swan) to the domed sunroof, scaled over with deadly stalactites, glowing snake-green like a malevolent chandelier. As her gaze roamed to the buffed staircases, shiny onyx arches, and ruthless marchers, it all felt like the things that made Good distinct from Evil, with their more controlled energy, was taken up to a hundred.

And so, watching this parade, Y/n felt a pit of anxiety in her stomach, feeling like it was all some sinister front. Suddenly, beneath the stalactites, she caught sight of Chaddick, who looked like a scared boy, even now when he had grown a bit more, and had hairier arms. His gray eyes met Y/n's, seeming quite shocked to see her, and out of the corner of his lips he mouthed the word "Help"–before a burst of green firefly lights detonated near him, and he whipped his gaze forwards, wincing with pain.

Y/n then caught a lot of her other old classmates in the crowd– Renna, Millicent, Giselle, Nicholas, Hiro, Kiko,– all looking just as scared. She then turned back to the legends obelisk. The Ever's portraits, once smiling and kind, were painted with baleful scowls and sneers, matching the Nevers' frames, now jammed onto the same column. The only portrait that was still smiling, was her own, located right at the bottom. She had a big, bright smile, and she wore a white dress. But most notably were cuffs on her wrists and collar, attached with chains. And it was no coincidence that she was at the bottom. People could call her a queen all they wanted. But in reality, in this world, she was under everyone else, the Good scum left of the world, a stain.

Sophie continued forward through the crowd, taking Y/n with her, and Y/n got a better look at the foyer's wall murals, all featuring her and Sophie kissing against celestial night skies. Sophie was in black leather, wearing a jagged metal crown, Y/n was in flowy white clothing, a dainty gold tiara on her head, here too she was in chains, as fiery stars cast halos over their heads. In each mural, a single green letter was superimposed on their embracing bodies. Once spelling out G-O-O-D, the wall paintings now spelled... E-V-I-L.
