Tedros broke from Filip and jumped back, the prince's face wildly red. "No no no no–" He stammered, turning to Sophie and Agatha. "W-wait? Where is Y/n?"
But Sophie had her finger raised, glowing bright pink at Tedros.
"Sophie, listen to me," Filip begged, retreating against a blue willow–
"You snake," Sophie hissed, advancing on Filip, keeping her finger at Tedros. "You lied to me. I believed in you. Believed you'd be loyal."Tedros instinctively shielded Filip, pointing his own finger at Sophie. "Leave Filip alone, Y/n. Your fight is with me."
But Sophie wasn't looking at him. She was glaring daggers at Filip, her finger burning brighter. "You kissed him! You tried to make me go home!"
"It's not true! I didn't know he would do that!" Filip cried–
Tedros spun to his square-jawed friend. "You know each other.""You were in that tower that night, I already know it," Filip said. "You've been a snake from the start. And you made Agatha lie too."
"And you promised me you wouldn't see him!" Sophie fired. "I couldn't lose you. Not without trying to win you back!"
"So you tried to get us home on a lie?" Filip lashed.
"Why is my prince and my enemy talking?" gaped Tedros, delirious–
"I had to show you your wish was wrong," Sophie assailed Filip, fighting tears. "That my love means more than a boys."Y/n shook her head angrily, thinking of dreams she'd cursed, the heart she'd maligned, trying to tell her the truth about her friend all along. "Can't you see?" Filip said, eyes filling with tears. "Tedros had been right to me this entire time. A story just can't work with four. And I could redeem Tedros, I can't redeem you. The more you try to stop me, Sophie, the more my wish for him is true."
Sophie took a step back, cut to the core.Agatha ran up to Filip, hugging him tight. "I–I'm sorry I lied." Agatha cried. "I couldn't stop her. And she said she would k-kill me– and everyone else. I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too," Filip said, hugging Agatha tight.
"I really don't understand what's happening," Tedros croaked, eyes wide."You'd choose him over me?" Sophie rasped to Filip. The boy who his father had always wanted. The boy that now too abandoned her. "I would have risked my life for you. I would have killed for you. And instead you kissed him."
"He kissed me!" Filip screamed.
"H-h-hold on– it was a bad moment–" the prince fumbled. "We're friends– like you and Y/n– I think–"
"Some friend," said Sophie, glowering at Filip.
"Sophie, it's for the best that you go home," Filip said. "It's what's best for all of us. Even you."
"It was so dark– and his face looked different–" Tedros moaned, slumping onto a rock. "Any boy would do the same mistake–""You said you wanted to forget this place," Sophie said. "You said you wanted our happy ending back."
"Happy! It was never happy for me, or for Agatha!" Filip yelled. "And because of you, a boy had already been killed. Because of you, Agatha might die!"
"I just wanted us to go back to the way we were. Before we ever came here. Before we ever met a prince!" Sophie implored. "I just wanted you to love me! To kiss me like you do to Agatha!"
"If you truly loved me, you would let me be happy," Filip seethed, face searing red. "If you loved me, you wouldn't hurt those I loved. Real love isn't this!" Y/n pointed to the scars on her chest, still clear as day.Tedros launched off his rock. "That's it!" he spat at Sophie. "I don't care how you three know each other, whether you're long-lost cousins, secret pen pals, or hiking buddies in Mount Honora, but Filip isn't your concern anymore, all right?" he snarled. "You and Agatha can have Y/n, if that's what she wants. So go before I change my mind about killing you."
Sophie goggled at him before laughing like a maniac.
"What's so funny?" Tedros barked.
"You really don't see it, do you?" Sophie marveled. "Think he's just a friend?"
"No, he's my best friend," retorted the prince. "And for the first time, I finally understand why Y/n would choose you instead of me. Because Filip knows me. He backs me up and fights for me in a way only Y/n could. I've always thought love was contained to a box, I had to love a girl. But Filip is beyond that box, and just as good as Y/n. Because I'd choose him over anyone else again, again and again."
"Well, I think you are quite blind," Sophie said witheringly. "Just as blind as your father was about your mother."
Tedros bared teeth and drew his sword. "What did you say?"
Sophie's face hardened. "Just as good as Y/n, you say?"
