"What do you suppose they're talking about?" Sophie asked, watching Hort and Tedros sitting together on a flying carpet in the sky, following a stymph, flying beside. She put her arms around Y/n.
"I don't know to be honest," Y/n said, Merlin and Lepus in her lap. "Maybe nothing at all?"
"Probably either you, or how much they hate each other," Agatha assumed, sitting in the back.

The camel could only seat three, anticipating Agatha, Tedros, and Princess Uma as its passengers, only to be confronted with Y/n, Sophie, Hort, a kitten, and a baby. It was obvious from the start to Uma that Y/n would take her place, but soon it also became evident that Y/n wouldn't leave Merlin, nor would Sophie or Hort leave Y/n. Therefore Princess Uma summoned a stymph for herself, before taking out a flying carpet which had been in one of the camel's bags, in-case they'd be joined by Y/n (Uma had not fully know if Y/n was still in Camelot or not after all.) So now the boys and Uma would ride from above, to keep an eye on the girls down below. ("I can ride with Y/n," Hort volunteered before anyone else. "No you shouldn't. After everything that happened the last few days, I should be the one to ride with Y/n." Tedros scoffed. "Uma already assigned teams," Sophie nipped.)

As for their destination, they had no clue, because the camel refused to disclose it: "So no one can betray us to the enemy," it told Uma. When the princess pressed the animal to at least reveal the way they were going or the way to save Y/n from the second test, the camel replied: "Trust is the way."
"Or at least that's what I think it said," Uma sighed later. "In Camel tongue, 'trust' and 'death' are the same word, though it's safest to assume it meant the first over the second."
"And you're sure we should trust it," Sophie had said. "Last time it was going to deliver us to Rhian."
"Yeah, and now you think we should let it carry Y/n," Hort agreed. "It would be much safer if she rode with us."
"For once you don't say something completely brain dead," Tedros agreed. "You two can ride on the camel with Merlin and then me and Hort could take Y/n on the carpet."
"But what if she falls off?" Agatha scolded.
"Oh please, she won't fall off," Tedros said. "We're both there to hold her. You're overprotective."

"I'm pretty sure you just complained about her not being protective enough," Y/n said, giving him a knowing look. "All of you need to calm down. It's just a friendly animal, right?"
"Sure, an animal who tried to get us to our deathbed," Hort said. "We have a bad track-record of animals who shouldn't be trusted. Remember that beaver?"
"Beaver?" Tedros asked, looking at Y/n. "You can't seriously tell me there's a Beaver out there trying to kill you?"
"But I set her free," Agatha said. "She just wants to go home. She'll just have to wait until all of this is over. I trust her."
"I agree with Hort," Sophie said. "I don't trust vermin of any kind. No matter what Uma says."
"Spoken like true Nevers," Y/n quipped, scratching the camel behind the ear.
Sophie frowned. "What's that smell?"
The camel had peed on her shoe.

With half the Woods bounty-hunting Y/n, they could only ride at night, leaving sleep for the daytime. As for those left behind, Tedros assigned them new quests. A gang of first years led by Valentina and Laithan would sneak into Camelot to shadow Japeth's movements, while Bogden and Willam were to visit the priest named Popisil— who Willam once served as an altar boy— to see if he'd be of help against the Snake.
"Librarian at the Living Library hinted he might be a friend to us," said Tedros.

Meanwhile, a squirrelly nut had arrived for Tedros while they'd been in the School Master's tower.
"Message from Jaunt Jolie," Tedros disclosed, addressing the witches. "Queen Jacinda wants to see you."
"Jaunt Jolie?" said Hester. "That's Ever territory."
"Send Beatrix or Reena instead," Anadil agreed.
"Except those two are still missing," matronly Dot pointed out. "Kiko too."
"Not our problem," Hester snapped. "Nor are Ever queens."
"Well, this Ever queen asked for you, which is why you three are going," Tedros ordered. "Tell Jacinda that her daughter is dead, at the hands of the Snake. She should know the truth. And find out what happened to my mother. Last we heard, she went to ask for the queen's help. Her Knights of the Eleven are our best chance to kill Japeth before he finds Y/n. And we have to kill him. Because as long as the second test holds, he won't stop until he kills her. Bring Nicola while you're at, we won't be able to bring her on our journey now."
"I can walk," Nicola said. "Or—"
"No, it's okay Nicola," Y/n said. "You shouldn't feel like you need to come with us. You can do more important things. It's better to split up, I know that's what you're actually thinking, right? You're always so bright."
"Fine..." Nicola sighed, looking a bit annoyed. Y/n had felt that suspicion again.
Along the way, Tedros added, the coven and Nicola should stop at Glass Mountain to find where Robin Hood had hidden Maid Marian. ("How do we tell her Robin's dead?" Dot lamented. "We really are the death parade," Anadil mumbled back.)
