Minnie
3 months later

I don't know if Monse thought this would be an easy decision to make.... cause it's not.

The thought of marrying Oscar was the last thing in my mind. There was a time when that's all I could think about.

Oscar and I had been hanging out for 3 hours on a cliff somewhere in Hollywood, not a word had been said in the past hour.

We had never been anything other than friends, but I confessed my feelings for him then kissed him and he hasn't spoke since. Just... Staring..

And before you judge me, we had kissed a week before, it was a dare from Mario. That was a moment we've never experienced before and it was definitely not a friend kiss. It felt longing.

"Would you ever marry me?" Oscar blurted out while finally looking at me.

I thought things would always be platonic between us, so what is this? Lust? Love?

I mean he was my best friend.

"Huh?"

I was so thrown off I didn't know if he meant like in the future or if he was actually asking.

"If you're gonna propose you better do it the right way," I joked, trying to make that weird feeling go away.

It didn't.

"C'mon Minnie I'm being serious."

"Sorry," My voice softened. "I don't know what y- why?"

"yes or no?" The eye contact was so serious it felt like time had stopped. That was when I noticed the way he always looked at me.

Everybody else could see it before I did.

"I mean.... yes?"

"Minnie you know what I'm tied to right?"

"Yea.. I know but what's the difference if we're just friends? there's still that risk."

"Except it's easier to keep your friends out of it," he shook his head. "If we're married that could just mean more trouble, just look at my mom."

He always said, after his mom died, he didn't want to bring someone else into the life he was born into, but I was born into it too. Our families have been connected for generations.

"I heard my dad talking to your dad about us getting married the other day for Santos. Your dad said that would never happen."

"Well... Let's try dating first. No one has to know."

He continued to stare at me as I finished my sentence then his eyes shifted downwards.

"Are you asking me out Min?"

"Yes? No? I think so?"

"Are you sure? I don't want you to do anything you don't want to do..."

"Oscar I wouldn't have said something."
