"Are we not gonna talk about last night?"

I've been leaning against the fridge for about 5 minutes now, watching Minnie cook herself breakfast. When I woke up, she was already out of bed and in the kitchen. She hadn't said anything.

"I think we already said what we needed to say," she shrugs as she flips her omelet.

"That's not what I'm talking about," I shake my head, moving closer to stand by her.

She looks up at me, and her eyelids shudder for a second. I can tell she doesn't like looking at me anymore, I look nothing like who she deserves. Her eyes search for something in mine before turning back to the pan on the stove.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I wipe my face before turning her to look at me, "Minnie." My voice is soft.

Her eyes glazed over for a split second before going back to normal.

"I just wanted to be held," her voice cracks, and by her reaction, I could tell she was trying to hold it back.

"You said try right?" she questioned.

I don't know how to answer, so I just nod.

"I'm trying," she fakes a smile, then turns back to the stove one last time.

I'm breaking her..

"I think I'm gonna get you your own apartment." I step back and make my way to the doorway before stopping and turning to her, "Up north so that, uh, you can have your own space."

"What?" Her body spins around to look at me. "We just got married, and you're already trying to get rid of me?"

"I'm trying to protect you." I take a deep breath and shake my head. "Everything I've done has been to protect YOU and CESAR. You want to be married to me one day, then the next you don't!"

Her face fell as this was the first time I've raised my voice in front of her in a while. "I don't know what you want me to do anymore," I throw my hands up in surrender.

"I don't want to sit around and just wait for someone to come here and try to kill you." She slowly steps towards me as she speaks "As soon as they find out that the deal YOUR father made to marry ME off to ANOTHER stupid fucking asshole is BROKEN so that YALL can sell DRUGS?!" She scoffs in my face and shakes her head.

"If your mom knew any of this, she'd be so disappointed."

My heart drops, and so does her face. Her hands shoot to her mouth, and her eyes start to plead.

"Oscar, I'm so sorr-" I put my hand up to silence her and then took a step back.

"I'll be back late tonight." I take a few more steps back, just looking at her, then shake my head and leave it to hang, "Don't wait up. Call if you need me."

I start to walk to the front door, and as I grab the doorknob, she calls out, "Where are you going?"

"Anywhere you're not."
