Chapter 98: Moving

Carina laughed, the sound filling the room. "Hey, you should feel honored that I'm allowing you to contribute at all. Usually my decor choices are flawless."

She stepped closer to Maya, wrapping her arms around her waist. "And don't worry, I'll take your preferences into account. After all, I want our house to feel like a home for both of us. We'll find a way to balance your 'simple and functional' style with my 'chic and cozy' design sensibilities."

Maya and Carina moved around their apartment, gathering their belongings and getting ready to leave for the real estate agent's office. The excitement of the upcoming move was mixed with the nerves of signing such a major paperwork.

Maya was checking her pockets, making sure she had everything she needed, while Carina was quickly touching up her makeup in the mirror. They were both a little on edge, knowing that this moment would significantly reshape their lives.

Maya looked over at Carina, who was finishing up her makeup. "Babe, are you ready?"

Carina turned to face her, a hint of nervousness flickering in her eyes. "As ready as I can be, I guess. I still can't believe we're doing this, you know? Buying our own house. It's a big step."

Maya moved closer to Carina, wrapping an arm around her waist. "It's a huge step, yeah. But it's also a good one. We've taken big steps before, and we always come out better for them, right?"

Carina looked at Maya and said "Today's Sunday right so we have our IVF appointment tomorrow at Grey Sloan with Addison Montgomery at 10 am."

Maya nodded, looking at her watch to check the date. "Yep, you're right. It's Sunday. And tomorrow's the big day for our appointment with Doctor Montgomery. 10 am tomorrow, sharp."

She paused for a moment, a flicker of anticipation in her eyes. "How are you feeling about it? Nervous, excited, a bit of both?"

Carina let out a sigh, a mixture of emotions swirling in her eyes. "It's kind of a rollercoaster, to be honest. I'm both nervous and excited. Trying to keep my expectations in check, but it's hard. I want this to work so badly."

Maya looked at Carina and said "So am I the one that's doing the IVF."

Carina nodded in response to Maya's question. "Yeah, the IVF procedure would involve implanting an embryo, which is essentially a fertilized egg, into your uterus. The embryo will then hopefully attach to the lining of your uterus and develop into a healthy pregnancy."

Maya nodded, taking in this information. The idea of going through the IVF process was a mix of intimidating and exciting. On one hand, she was thrilled about the prospect of finally starting to build their family. On the other hand, she was a bit worried about the potential physical and emotional ramifications of the treatment.

Maya said "Did you send over my medical records because of my epilepsy."

Carina nodded. "Yes, I had your medical records sent over to Doctor Montgomery, including information about your epilepsy. She needed to have a complete picture of your health and medical history before we started the IVF process."

Carina continued, a hint of reassurance in her voice. "You know, they'll take all the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and health throughout the procedure. They won't let anything dangerous happen."

Maya took a deep breath, trying to quell her nerves. "I know they'll take precautions, but it's hard not to worry. I just hope my epilepsy won't be a major issue in all this. I don't want it to get in the way of us having a baby."

Carina took Maya's hands in hers, giving them a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, I understand why you'd worry about that. But please remember that we have the best doctors on our side, okay? They know what they're doing, and they'll make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. And if there are any complications, we'll face them together. You're not in this alone, alright?"
