Carina quietly approached the bed and set the tray down on the bedside table. She then sat down on the edge of the bed next to Maya, studying her sleeping form for a few more moments. She couldn't help but smile, feeling a wave of love and tenderness for the woman who was soon to be her wife.

She gently reached out, running her fingers through Maya's hair, gently trying to rouse her without startling her. "Maya, bella. It's time to wake up," she whispered softly, her voice gentle and affectionate.

Maya stirred, her eyes slowly fluttering open. It took a moment for her to adjust to her surroundings, her brain still a little fuzzy from sleep. But then her eyes met Carina's and her face broke into a sleepy smile.

Carina smiled back, her hand still in Maya's hair. "Good morning, tesoro. I brought you breakfast."

Carina chuckled at Maya's compliment, her heart swelling with affection. "I wanted to surprise you a little. You looked so peaceful, I didn't want to wake you."

She moved the tray onto Maya's lap, the pancakes and coffee steaming and looking absolutely mouth-watering.

Maya's eyes widened as the aroma of the pancakes and coffee filled the air. "It looks and smells amazing."

She took a sip of the coffee, a satisfied hum escaping her lips. "And this coffee is exactly how I like it. You know me so well."

Carina chuckled again, watching as Maya started digging into her breakfast. "Of course I do. I'm your fiancée, I better know you well."

She leaned against the headboard, sipping on her own coffee as she watched Maya eat, enjoying this peaceful moment between them.

As Maya savored the taste of the pancakes and coffee, Carina couldn't help but notice how content and at ease she looked. It was a stark contrast to the stress and worry they had both been feeling recently.

She placed her coffee down on the bedside table and turned to Maya. "So, how are you feeling? Ready for the appointment today?"

Maya nodded, swallowing a mouthful of pancake. "I'm a little nervous, but I'm mostly excited. It's a big step, you know?"

She took another bite, her eyes meeting Carina's. "But I know we're in this together, and that makes me feel a lot better."

Carina reached over and covered Maya's hand with hers, intertwining their fingers. "We are in this together, every step of the way. And I'm always here for you, no matter what."

She looked into Maya's eyes, her gaze unwavering. "Today is going to be the first step to us having our own little family. I can't think of anything more amazing than that."

Maya glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table. The numbers read 7:15am. She looked back at Carina, noting how early it still was, "It's only 7:15am. We have time."

Carina noticed the time too. "Yeah, we've got plenty of time. Our appointment with Dr. Montgomery isn't until 10 am. We can take our time waking up and getting ready."

Maya nodded, her eyes tracing over Carina's face. She always looked radiant, but there was something extra beautiful about the way the early morning light illuminated her features.

She took another sip of coffee, the caffeine starting to kick in. "I guess we do. Any chance I can convince you to spend some more of this time in bed with me?"

Carina's eyes sparkled at Maya's suggestion, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Oh, you're persuasive. But as much as I'd love to spend more time in bed with you, I think breakfast has given you enough energy, and I know how you like to burn through that energy."
